  • It was such a JOY to be a part of Joy House Film Festival showcasing our film in one of Sydney's finest and largest cinemas. Joy was wonderful at communicating clearly and would always get back to me so quickly. I felt very welcome and would highly recommend to any filmmaker. Such an honour to win the Change Maker Award for Women too. Thank you for having us!

The Joyhouse Film Festival is a professionally ran high quality film festival. Festival director Joy Hopwood is an excellent communicator and is a pleasure to work with.

She let me know 6 months in advance that I was on the short list and to verify my film link works. Living far away from Australia, I was so grateful she gave me a heads up especially with the high costs of travel.

Later when I couldn't be there in person I messaged her and she emailed me a link of the festival and was very transparent about the scheduling and that it wasn't worth spending thousands on travel costs.

The festival itself has industry judges, there is no favoritism or politics, and all the awards are strictly merit based.

Even after the festival was over she continued correspondence regarding film opportunities and broader career questions. I feel like I have a new friend down under :)

If you're thinking about entering then I strongly recommend you do so.
