She is a member of the Dachverband Darstellende Künste Hamburg. Her artistic work has been supported by the Fonds Darstellende Künste, the Musikfonds, the Behörde für Kultur und Medien Hamburg and the Hamburgische Kulturstiftung, among others. Ingrid holds a Doctorate in African Studies (Humboldt University), post-doctorates in Art History, Communication Studies and Media Aesthetics (McGill University; University of Oslo) and a diploma in Visual Culture Studies/Fine Arts (University of the Arts Berlin). She has been researching and teaching Philosophy and Anthropology of the Arts, Image and Critical Theory at universities and art schools in Europe, Canada, Hong Kong and Brazil since 2007. Her research has been supported by the Austrian Science Fund and the Hong Kong General Research Fund, among others. Positions include an Assistant Professorship at the School of Creative Media, Hong Kong and a Marie-Curie Fellowship at the Collegium Helveticum, Zurich. She is the author of COMMON IMAGE (2022) and SOFTIMAGE (2015).
As a Visiting Scholar at the Central European University Budapest, she founded General Humanity which operates across disciplines and media and which serves as the production label for her theoretical, filmic, sonic and multimedia works since 2018. From 2018 to 2023 she directed six General Humanity Labs: IN THE MOOD FOR MUD (2018), POSTIMAGE OPERAAAHHH!!! (2019); ANIMAL ANCESTOR (2020) exploring the human condition between divinity and animality; PEAK HUMANITY (2021) focussing on the future of humanity; EARTH PULSE / FUTURE EVE (2022) opposing Earthly resonance with the dystopia of artificial reproduction; and PanEros (2023), a queer-feminist farewell to phallomania and an ode to ambiental erotics.
In 2024, as a Visiting Professor at the Escola de Teatro der Universidade Federal da Bahia funded by the Hamburg Ministry of Media and Culture International Cultural Exchange Program she conducted the performative research project Eu/meus Orixás. The outcome is an ongoing series of performances (EU, IROKO, 2024; TRANCE/GENDER/MULTIPLE ME, 2025) and the performance film Transcorporação. Estados além do eu (2025) produced in collaboration with the Escola de Teatro, Universidade Federal da Bahia.
Previous film works include EARTH PULSE: A Sonic and Performative Meditation on the Schumann Resonance (2022, 22.30 min.), produced in collaboration with composer Héloïse Francesconi and with support by the Hamburg Ministry of Media and Culture, and video works produced as part of General Humanity multimedia performances, such as Time of the Abyss (2021) and Me, Josephine (2020).
