EARTH PULSE: A Meditation on the Schumann Resonance
EARTH PULSE is a sonic and performative meditation on the geo-acoustic phenomenon of the Schumann resonance and its impact on life on Earth. The Schumann frequency is 7.83 Hertz or 8 pulses per second. Although inaudible to humans (our auditory spectrum starts at 20 Hz), the frequency affects the biological rhythm of terrestrial beings.

Ingrid Hoelzl is a trans-media artist, theorist and filmmaker with a background in media and cultural theory, visual arts and performance. Since 2020 she is based in Hamburg as an independent cultural producer, creating text and sound works, films and multimedia performances under the label General Humanity. She is a member of the Dachverband Darstellende Künste Hamburg. Her artistic work has been supported by the Fonds Darstellende Künste, the Musikfonds, the Behörde für Kultur und Medien Hamburg and the Hamburgische Kulturstiftung, among others.
