The Ibadan Indie Film Awards (IFA) has been created to recognize and reward the excellence of young indie Nigerian filmmakers creating from anywhere around the globe. The IFA is an annual event, will be held every November at the New Culture Studios in the ancient city of Ibadan, Nigeria.

Independent films give room for both experimentation and artistic growth. We are here to recognize and celebrate the films and the artists for their artistic contribution to Nigerian cinema.

Our aim is to have a cultural film event, where people can have a unique experience of being artistically stimulated by films, while having a casual fun evening, meeting like-minded people in the open-air New Culture Studios, Ibadan.

IFA has received support from institutions such as Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany Lagos.

So, IFA welcomes you home. See you in Ibadan!

Every year, "The Jury" will award the best independent filmmakers. All the winners receive the prestigious "IFA".

Awards will be given in the following categories, this would vary based on the year's objective:
* IFA for Best Film (Short / Feature/Documentary)
* Jury Award (Spirit of IFA)
* IFA Best Experimental film
and many other recognitions.

  • I had a great time at the festival

    March 2026
  • Thank you to the Ibadan Indie Film Awards (IFA) for selecting my debut film, The Noise Around Her Black. I had a wonderful experience at the festival and the opportunity to meet so many inspiring filmmakers.

    I especially appreciated the post-screening Q&A sessions, where each selected filmmaker had a short interview with a film critic. That was so insightful and generous of IFA. Can't wait till next year's edition.
