Welcome to the third edition of the Honey Writes Short Screenplay Competition. Honey Writes is the newest expansion of Honey & Hemlock Productions. Honey & Hemlock Productions was founded in 2021 by industry professionals, Melissa Bronski and Shanna Riker, who have a combined total of 15 years in the industry.

Honey Writes provides unique opportunities for screenwriters, with a team of industry professionals judging your screenplays while providing feedback. With a focus on producibility, our panel of judges score your script with a rubric curated enhance writing elements and get your script ready for production.

If you are interested in what it costs to produce your short film, we've got you. You can enter to have Honey & Hemlock Productions and our team of Industry Professionals breakdown your script and send you a budget breakdown. If you enter this category, you are automatically entered to win the competition and receive the judges feedback.

As industry professionals ourselves, we understand the importance of accolades and laurels as you are moving your screenplays into production and seeking financing. We will announce and provide laurels for Official selections, Quarter-Finalists, Semi-Finalists, Finalists and the winner as well as one Honorable Mention.
Prizes will be awarded to the Winner and the Honorable Mention.

All submissions will be accepted online through FilmFreeway. All winners will be announced online via our Website, and our Social Channels.

Awards & Prizes

• All scripts will receive an Official Selection Laurel.
• Quarter- Finalists will receive a Quarter- Finalist Laurel
• Semi-Finalists will receive a Semi-Finalist Laurel
• Finalists will receive a Finalist Laurel
• Honorable Mention will receive an Award Winner Laurel, a PDF certificate of achievement
• Grand Prize winner will receive an Award Winning Laurel, A PDF Certificate of achievement, and prize (TBD)

This year we are excited to announce that our grand prize winner will receive a 1 year membership to ISA connect. (Valued at $135) Through this our winner will have access to job postings, and additional screenwriting competitions.

Rules & Terms

• This competition is open to anyone 16 years or older.
• All scripts must be no more than 45 pages
• All scripts must be submitted in English
• There are no genre requirements
• All entries must be submitted through the submission portal on FilmFreeway and received before the final deadline.
• All entry fees must be received through the submission portal on FilmFreeway before being eligible for competition, feedback, or a budget breakdown.
• Honey & Hemlock Productions has the right to disqualify any entry for any reason that does not match our full terms and conditions.
• By entering you agree that Honey & Hemlock Productions has the right to promote quarter-finalists, semi-finalists, finalists, and the winners on all of their social channels, including but not limited to: Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, and newsletter.

    Not often does a writer get lucky enough to come across a team of professionals who desire to help your story eventually get produced. They provide copious notes and even a detailed breakdown on your script. This is a contest I will definitely submit to again.
