Welcome to the first annual Honey Writes Short Screenplay Competition. Honey Writes is the newest expansion of Honey & Hemlock Productions. Honey & Hemlock Productions was founded in 2021 by industry professionals, Melissa Bronski and Shanna Riker, who have a combined total of 12 years in the industry.

Honey Writes provides unique opportunities for screenwriters. By submitting a script to the competition categories, screenwriters have the opportunity to win the grand prize-- Having the winning script produced by Honey & Hemlock Productions! That's right. Honey & Hemlock Productions will produce the winning script from this competition and it will be directed by one of our Co-Founders.

If you are a screenwriter looking for feedback, but don't necessarily want to enter the competition, we've got you. You can enter to have your script reviewed by our panel of judges and you will receive your score and thorough feedback on your script.

If you are interested in what it costs to produce your short film, we've got you. You can enter to have Honey & Hemlock Productions and our team of Industry Professionals breakdown your script and send you a budget breakdown. If you enter this category, you are automatically entered to win the competition and receive the judges feedback.

All submissions will be accepted online through FilmFreeway. All winners will be announced online via our Website, and our Social Channels. The winning script will be produced by the end of 2023, in a location of our choice that best suits the production needs of the film.

Awards & Prizes

• All scripts will receive an Official Selection Laurel.
• Quarter- Finalists will receive a Quarter- Finalist Laurel
• Semi-Finalists will receive a Semi-Finalist Laurel
• Finalists will receive a Finalist Laurel
• Honorable Mention will receive an Award Winner Laurel and will move into the Grand Prize slot should the grand prize winner decline their prize.
• Grand Prize-- Honey & Hemlock Productions will produce the winning script as part of our 2023 project line up and it will be directed by one of Our Co-Founders. This film will be publicized on our website and all social channels. Once produced, we will take responsibility for submitting the completed film to film festivals.

Rules & Terms

• This competition is open to anyone 16 years or older.
• All scripts must be between 10 and 15 pages
• All scripts must be submitted in English
• There are no genre requirements.
• All entries must be submitted through the submission portal on Film Freeway and received before the final deadline.
• All entry fees must be received through the submission portal on Film Freeway before being eligible for competition, feedback, or a budget breakdown.
• By entering you agree that Honey & Hemlock Productions has the right to produce the winning script.
• Honey & Hemlock Productions has the right to disqualify any entry for any reason that does not match our full terms and conditions.
• By entering you agree that Honey & Hemlock Productions has the right to promote quarter-finalists, semi-finalists, finalists, and the winners on all of their social channels, including but not limited to: Instagram, Tik Tok, Facebook, The Honey & Hemlock Productions Website and newsletter.
