The Guwahati Asian Film Festival (GAFF) is an annual event dedicated to celebrating and showcasing the diverse cinematic traditions of Asia. By highlighting the creativity and stories of both established and emerging filmmakers, the Guwahati Asian Film Festival serves as a significant cultural event, contributing to the global appreciation of Asian cinema.​

Submission Rules for Asian Cinema:

• Films completed on or after September 1st, 2023, are eligible for submission. Films submitted in earlier edition of GAFF are not eligible for submission in this edition.
• Films with a duration of more than 70 minutes are eligible for participation.
• Only fiction films will be considered for selection. Documentaries and short films will not be accepted.
• Entries are accepted in all Asian languages. All films must include English subtitles.
• All entry fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.
• Open to filmmakers from across Asia, as well as non-Asian filmmakers whose works highlight Asian culture. For non-Asian filmmakers, at least one producer must be of Asian origin.
• Selected films must confirm their participation in the festival and submit the required promotional materials within 7 days of receiving the notification. The specific materials needed will be communicated upon selection.
• Once confirmed from filmmaker's end, selected films cannot be withdrawn.
• Upon selection, the submitter must provide both DCP and MP4 files with English subtitles.
• All selection decisions are final, and GAFF is not obligated to provide feedback on the selection or non-selection of films.
• Submitted films must not contain any content that infringes or violates copyright.
• The Festival reserves the right to exclude films that do not align with the festival's aims, may offend any participating country's national sentiments or susceptibilities, or are likely to promote racial discrimination.
• GAFF reserves the right to use posters, video clips, and trailers of the selected films for promotion on social media and partner platforms.
• By submitting a film to GAFF, the applicant confirms they are the rightful owner or have the authority to submit the film for selection. The applicant also indemnifies GAFF from any legal claims or disputes arising from the submitted film.
• For films produced by organizations or institutions, the applicant must provide written permission via email from the relevant authorities, confirming the film's participation in GAFF if selected.
• While an Indian censor board certificate is not required, all selected films are subject to clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Submission Rules for Indian Showcase (Competition & Non-Competition):

• Films must be in any Indian language and must include English subtitles.
• Films with a duration of more than 70 minutes are eligible for participation.
• Only fiction films will be considered for selection. Documentaries and short films will not be accepted.
• Films completed on or after January 1st, 2024, are eligible for submission. Films that were submitted in the first edition are not eligible to apply again.
• All entry fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.
• Selected films must confirm their participation in the festival and submit the required promotional materials within 7 days of receiving the notification. The specific materials needed will be communicated upon selection.

• Films those are not censored must send an affidavit in prescribed format once the film is selected for the festival.

Submission Rules for North East India Cinema:

• Films must be in any North East Indian language and must include English subtitles.
• Three selected films from the North East India Cinema category will compete in the Indian Showcase Competition alongside other Indian language films. The remaining films will be featured in the Non-Competitive section of the North East Indian Film category.
• Films with a duration of more than 70 minutes are eligible for participation.
• Only fiction films will be considered for selection. Documentaries and short films will not be accepted.
• Films completed on or after January 1st, 2024, are eligible for submission. Films that were submitted in the first edition are not eligible to apply again.
• All entry fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.
• Selected films must confirm their participation in the festival and submit the required promotional materials within 7 days of receiving the notification. The specific materials needed will be communicated upon selection.
