GET SMART FILM FESTIVAL

A film festival celebrating independent short films made on smartphones and tablets. This is the first year of the festival and is taking place on the 10th Anniversary of Bradford earning the UNESCO title of City of Film.

The aim is to celebrate the works of independent filmmakers. Gone are the days when a £50,000 camera is required to make a film. We want to encourage filmmakers to use one of the most popular devices of the modern age, the smartphone, to get creative and shoot their own films.

The festival takes place over three nights in Bradford, West Yorkshire at a number of venues in Bradford city centre and across the University of Bradford campus.

All films in the official selection will compete for awards in the following categories with awards presented to the winners at the closing night awards event.

Best Fiction
Best Documentary
Best Bradford Film
Best Youth Film
Best 60 Second Film

Really impressed with the festival , especially when it's the first year.

  • It was really great to meet Marcus and his team at the screening of some truly eclectic smartphone films from around the world.

Despite being the very first year for this modest smartphone film festival, it is clear that Marcus has a genuine passion and enthusiasm for curating and hosting this festival, which I think has the potential to become one of Bradford's premiere cultural events of the year.

I wish them the very best of luck for the future!
