After well over a decade of championing the creation of some of the most entertaining and intriguing films in North Central Florida. We have decided to up the ante with the creation of the Gainesville 48 Hour Animation Competition! Competitors have 48 hours to plan, animate, execute, and post an animated short between 30-120 seconds based on a blind topic, line of dialogue, and prop. Animation teams will have 48 hours to create a 30-120 second animation.

$1,000 in total cash prizes and awards for the top three in each category and the best in show through judging.

Eligibility

The contest is open to legal residents and guests of the United States. Those directly affiliated with judging are not eligible for the competition.

Competition Categories

– 2D/3D – Teams may compete to create 30-120 second animation in either the style of 2D or 3D animation, teams can be comprised of people of all ages. There may be

– Auto Generated (AI) - Teams may compete to create 30-120 second animation that can be generated utilizing auto generation (AI) methods, teams can be comprised of people of all ages.

Competition Notice: Work File Submission

By choosing to participate in this animation competition, all entrants acknowledge and agree that they may be required to submit original project files (“work files”) upon request by the competition organizers.

This request may be made for purposes including, but not limited to, verification of authorship, confirmation of originality, and judging review. Work files may include source files such as project files, layered assets, timelines, renders, or any other materials used in the creation of the submitted entry.

Failure to provide requested work files within the specified timeframe may result in disqualification at the sole discretion of the competition organizers.

All submitted materials will be used strictly for review and verification purposes and will not be distributed, shared, or used beyond the scope of the competition without the creator’s permission.

Teams

- Teams will have a maximum of FIVE (5) animation production team members. One of the five will be designated as the “team lead” or Director. Voice over or acting talent may be used in addition to the five production members of the team provided that the talent ONLY contributes their voice and/or acting performances to the piece. All voice over artists or actors must sign the provided model and liability release. If those who may want to participate, are under the age of 18 years of age, they must have a waiver signed endorsing their participation by a parent or guardian.

Films

- Teams will have 48 hours to complete a short that is between 30 and 120 seconds in length. Shorter/longer animations will not be judged.
