Festival of independent student films.

We want to bring together young filmmakers (15-30 years old) who are seriously interested in filmmaking, films and film studios. We want to connect these young filmmakers with professional filmmakers who will screen their first or student films at the festival. The discussions that follow each screening are also an important element. You can also look forward to a rich accompanying programme and workshops.

The festival has three main categories: fiction, documentary and animation. These sections are further divided into a Czech section and an international section.
There are also 2 special categories: experimental films and films under a minute.

Submissions to the Czech competition are free and the international section has a fee. Participation of all authors is very welcome!

The Fofr Festival will take place in May 2024 at the Kavalírka cinema in Prague.

If you have any questions, please contact us at: fofrfestival@gmail.com.

If you are unable to submit your films for financial reasons. Contact us!

There will be grand prizes in each category and an audience prize.

The festival does not offer any financial rewards.

Fofr Festival reserves the right to accept or reject any film without further explanation.

No film may be withdrawn from the festival after the submission deadline.

Films can be submitted by an authorised person (student, school, teacher). The main filmmakers must be between 15 and 30 years old at the time of filming. Films must be made in 2022, 2023 or 2024. The maximum length of the film is 30 minutes. Each filmmaker is allowed to submit up to 3 films.
The festival does not refund entry fees.

If you are unable to enter your films due to financial reasons. Contact us!

Filmmakers from any country can submit films to the international section.
Only Czech films can be submitted to the Czech section.
All non-Czech films must have English subtitles.

The festival reserves the right to change the venue and date of the festival. The Festival may also change the programme or cancel the entire Festival.

Author – The author of a work means the director or producer. Only the author of the work (director/producer) may register a film under his/her name for the Competition.

Obligations of authors and requirements for films

One author may enter a maximum of 3 films in his/her name in one year.

The topic of the films is not limited in any way.

No film containing excessive vulgar, indecent or derogatory footage that would substantially restrict access to the screening areas will be screened at the Festival.

The organisers are not liable for copyright infringement in the case of submissions by authors who, for whatever reason, did not have the right to submit, film or publicly distribute the work, including copyright in the music.

The festival’s production team reserves the right not to accept a film into the competition that does not comply with the established conditions based on the assessment, or, on the contrary, to grant an exception and accept the film.

Rights and obligations of FOFR

The authors of the work grant the FOFR organisers the right to publicly produce the submitted work within the festival. They also grant the right to use parts of the work (video and audio track) to create and publicly screen the audiovisual work for the purpose of promoting the festival (video trailer and cut of the nominated films). The organisers have the right to use the photographs, posters, screenshots and other materials submitted with the application to promote the festival on all online and printed materials.

By submitting a film to FOFR, the filmmaker agrees to the festival terms and conditions.

The organisers undertake not to use any of the entries for commercial purposes – e.g. to sell the work, unless the organisers agree otherwise in written form with the filmmaker. This obligation does not apply to the public screening within the festival and any echoes of the festival.

All personal data provided during the registration of the author is considered strictly confidential and is treated in accordance with Act No. 101/2000 Coll. We do not provide this data to third parties in any case. The registered persons consent to the collection, storage and processing of the personal data contained in the registration form for the purpose of sending commercial communications by electronic means pursuant to Act No. 480/2004 Coll., on certain information society services, until the data subject directly and effectively informs the controller that he or she no longer wishes to receive commercial information from the controller by e-mail to kontakt@fofrfestival.cz.

By submitting your film you agree to the terms and conditions of the festival.
