International Festival of Student Films

The FOFR International Festival of Student Films aims to connect young filmmakers with each other. We focus on the work of all filmmakers aged 15-30 who are willing to share and talk about their films. We mainly give space to filmmakers from the Czech Republic, but we also bring short student films from all over the world, mostly from Europe. The festival offers the audience a selection of the most interesting short student films under 30 minutes.

The festival offers an industry programme for young filmmakers who want to pursue professional filmmaking. During the festival, we offer a series of workshops, meetings, masterclasses that create opportunities for collaboration between filmmakers.

Outside of the festival, we organize year-round activities that follow the same spirit; promoting student filmmaking.

We want this festival to be as inspiring as possible and to deepen interest in student filmmaking.

The festival has three main categories: fiction, documentary and animation. These sections are further divided into a Czech section and an international section.
There are also 2 special categories: experimental films and films under a minute.

Submissions to the Czech competition are free and the international section has a fee. Participation of all authors is very welcome!

The FOFR Festival will take place in October 2026 at the Kampus Hybernska in Prague.

Concepts

Author – The author of a work means the director or producer. Only the author of the work (director/producer) may register a film under his/her name for the Competition.

Obligations of authors and requirements for films

One author may enter a maximum of 3 films in his/her name in one year.

The topic of the films is not limited in any way.

No film containing excessive vulgar, indecent or derogatory footage that would substantially restrict access to the screening areas will be screened at the Festival.

The organisers are not liable for copyright infringement in the case of submissions by authors who, for whatever reason, did not have the right to submit, film or publicly distribute the work, including copyright in the music.

The festival’s production team reserves the right not to accept a film into the competition that does not comply with the established conditions based on the assessment, or, on the contrary, to grant an exception and accept the film.

Rights and obligations of FOFR

The authors of the work grant the FOFR organisers the right to publicly produce the submitted work within the festival. They also grant the right to use parts of the work (video and audio track) to create and publicly screen the audiovisual work to promote the festival (video trailer and cut of the nominated films). The organisers have the right to use the photographs, posters, screenshots and other materials submitted with the application to promote the festival on all online and printed materials.

By submitting a film to FOFR, the filmmaker agrees to the festival's terms and conditions.

The organisers undertake not to use any of the entries for commercial purposes – e.g. to sell the work unless the organisers agree otherwise in written form with the filmmaker. This obligation does not apply to the public screening within the festival and any echoes of the festival.
