Femme Fatale is all about empowering young female and gender-diverse filmmakers by screening their work on our outdoor screen! We want to be your first festival, your new film community and your favourite place to network and be inspired by other young filmmakers!

This year's festival will take place from August 11th to 13th, outdoors at a Toronto city park. The weekend will be packed with night-time screenings of short films by young female and gender-diverse filmmakers, a filmmaking workshop and a Femme Fatale community picnic.

While we are a Canadian festival, we encourage international submissions! Femme Fatale is growing but remains at a grassroots funding level so we are unfortunately currently unable to provide transportation for artists to come to Toronto for the events. We will offer an online version of the festival at a later date for our community outside Toronto!

Awards & Prizes

At the end of each festival, we give out a Best in Show award! This award is voted on by the (in-person) audience at the festival. This year's prize is an interview episode on our podcast, The Femme Fatale Podcast.

Rules & Terms

In order to submit to the festival, you must be a female or gender-diverse filmmaker 25 years old or younger. In order to include as many filmmakers as possible, your film must be between 3 and 8 minutes long. Some exceptions apply, please contact us if you have any questions or concerns! We try to include most of the films submitted, we may ask to change the language in a film to adhere to a younger audience and may decide against including a film with heavy content matter to keep the festival accessible to all.
