F.U.F.F. Florence Underground Film Festival

Il Florence Underground Film Festival (FUFF) è una rassegna cinematografica di due giorni che esordirà sabato 29 e domenica 30 giugno 2024 negli spazi della Casa del Popolo “Le Panche – il Campino” a Firenze, con le proiezioni dei cortometraggi selezionati e le relative assegnazioni dei premi, il tutto contornato da attività collaterali (laboratori, workshop, dibattiti con i registi e i giurati presenti).

FUFF nasce con l'obiettivo di dare spazio e visibilità al cinema indipendente e autoprodotto, con l’intento di costruire una piattaforma capace di dare voce a produzioni che non riescono a trovare spazio nei circuiti cinematografici tradizionali. FUFF punta a diventare il festival fiorentino per gli autori emergenti che, pur con budget bassi o inesistenti, sono capaci di dimostrare la loro passione per il cinema.

I premi proposti rispecchiano l’anima inclusiva del festival. Non ci sono limiti di genere o nazionalità; l'unico criterio è che i film siano autentici e genuinamente underground. Tuttavia il festival non dimentica le sue radici territoriali, intendendo valorizzare le produzioni locali con una categoria dedicata specificamente al cinema toscano.

Per la sua prima edizione, FUFF vuole creare un'atmosfera informale e accogliente. Non si tratta solo di proiezioni di film, ma di un vero e proprio evento sociale, dove gli appassionati di cinema potranno incontrarsi, discutere e condividere la loro passione insieme ai registi selezionati. Il pubblico sarà coinvolto a partecipare attivamente attraverso incontri e laboratori e avrà un ruolo da protagonista cruciale con la possibilità di votare la propria opera preferita e conferire un premio dedicato.

FUFF offre l'opportunità di scoprire nuovi talenti, creatività inedite, storie alternative sotto il vessillo di “cinema underground”, mettendo al centro i film selezionati. Un festival che crede nel potere del cinema per cambiare le cose e farci vedere il mondo da prospettive diverse.

F.U.F.F. Florence Underground Film Festival

The Florence Underground Film Festival (FUFF) is a two-day film festival that is going to debut on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June 2024 in the Casa del Popolo “Le Panche – il Campino” in Florence, with the show of the selected short-movies, the presentation of the awards and other events such as workshops, public talks and debates with directors and members of the jury.

FUFF was born with the aim of giving space and visibility to independent self-produced films, building up a platform giving voice to that kind of productions which usually cannot find their way through traditional cinematographic circuits. FUFF aims to become the Florentine festival for emerging authors who, even with low or no budget, manage to communicate their passion for cinema.

The awards the festival proposes mirror its inclusive soul. There is no genre or nationality limits; the only principle is that movies should be authentic and genuinely underground. At the same time, the regional roots of the festival shall not be overlooked, as special attention is going to be put on local productions through a category specifically dedicated to cinema made in Tuscany.

For its first edition, FUFF aims to create an informal and welcoming atmosphere. It should not be just about showing films, but the event itself should be very much like a social moment, where movie fans shall meet, discuss and share their passion together with the directors. The public is going to be pushed to actively get involved in meetings and workshops and is going to be given a crucial role, getting the possibility of voting its favourite work and assigning a specific award.

FUFF gives the opportunity to discover new talents, fresh creativity sources, alternative stories under the label of "underground cinema", putting at its heart the selected films. It is a festival that believes in the power of cinema to change things and make us see the world through different perspectives.

Premi

Miglior film: premio assegnato al miglior cortometraggio del festival, senza limiti di genere.

Miglior film Horror/Fantasy/Scifi: categoria dedicata al cinema di genere horror, fantasy e fantascienza.

Miglior film toscano: premio al miglior cortometraggio realizzato in Toscana.

Premio speciale del pubblico: titolo assegnato dal pubblico durante le proiezioni.

Premio Novaradio Città Futura – la radio comunitaria dell'Arci di Firenze, un premio speciale assegnato direttamente da Novaradio.

Awards & Prizes

Best film: award given to the festival’s best short film regardless of genre.

Best Horror/Fantasy/Scifi Film: category dedicated to horror, fantasy and science fiction films.

Best Tuscan film: award given to the best short film produced in Tuscany.

The audience’s special award: title given by the audience during the film showings.

Novaradio prize (the community radio of Arci of Florence): a special prize awarded directly by Novaradio.

Rules & Terms

Regolamento

1) Ogni autore è responsabile del contenuto della propria opera.
2) I film ammessi devono avere una durata tra i 3 e i 20 minuti, titoli di coda e testa inclusi, e devono essere stati realizzati dopo il 1 gennaio 2022.
3) La selezione dei cortometraggi sarà a insindacabile giudizio dell’organizzazione del festival, e dovranno essere presentati attraverso la piattaforma Filmfreeway.
4) Nella categoria horror/fantasy/scifi saranno ammessi cortometraggi con una spiccata affezione al genere.
5) Per film toscano si intende un’opera realizzata sul territorio regionale.
6) Ogni regista può partecipare con un massimo di due opere.
7) Se i dialoghi del film non sono in italiano, è necessario fornire sottotitoli in italiano o inglese. In caso di selezione, è obbligatorio inviare il file .srt dei sottotitoli in inglese al festival.
8) In caso di selezione, verrà richiesto tutto il materiale necessario per scopi di marketing, sottotitolaggio e proiezione. È obbligatorio fornire una copia per la proiezione in alta definizione tramite download digitale.
9) Una volta selezionato, un film non può essere ritirato dal concorso.
10) Il festival non si occuperà della spedizione di trofei e premi nel caso in cui i vincitori non siano presenti il giorno della premiazione.
11) Il festival non fornirà alcun compenso per la proiezione agli autori/distributori dei film selezionati.
12) I premi saranno assegnati a insindacabile giudizio dalla giuria nominata dal Festival e dal pubblico presente per il premio dedicato.
13) L’organizzazione del festival può decidere la categoria del film all’interno del festival in fase organizzativa.

Rules & Terms

1)Each author is responsible for the contents of their work.
2) To be admitted to the festival, a film must last between 3 and 20 minutes, including the title sequence and credits. Moreover, the film in question must have been produced after the 1st of January 2022.
3) The selection of the short films will be at the discretion of the festival’s organising committee. In addition, to be selected, each film will have to be submitted using the Filmfreeway platform.
4) A film will be considered for the “Best Horror/Fantasy/SciFi” category only if it can be clearly associated with such genres.
5) By “Tuscan Film”, we mean a film that was produced in its entirety in the Region of Tuscany.
6) Every director can submit up to two works/productions.
7) If the film’s dialogues aren’t in Italian, you will be required to add subtitles in English or Italian. Should your film be selected, you will have to send the .srt subtitle file to the Festival’s committee.
8) In the event of selection, all the necessary material for marketing, subtitling and screening purposes will be requested. It is compulsory to provide a copy via digital download for a high-definition screening.
9) Once selected, a film cannot be pulled out of the competition.
10) The Festival’s organising committee will not see to shipping trophies and/or prizes should the winners not be present on the day of the awards ceremony.
11) The Festival’s organising committee will not be offering any compensation whatsoever to the authors of the films selected for screening.
12) Each prize will be awarded at the sole discretion of the jury nominated by the Festival’s organising committee and by the audience attending the prize-giving relevant to it.
13) The Festival’s organising committee will reserve the right to assign a category to each film during the organisational phase of the festival.
