"FOGFEST PROVES THAT NEWFOUNDLAND’S HORROR SCENE IS ON FIRE. While very much a DIY endeavor, this festival looked and felt world-class. In an industry mired in ego and endless elbow-rubbing, FogFest put the focus back where it should be – on art and havin’ a time." - Jessica Buck, Rue Morgue

Steeped in the fog of Canada's most easterly point, on an island surrounded by the roaring Atlantic Ocean and enveloped by the darkness of dense, sprawling woods, FOGFEST was born; an independent horror film festival in one of the oldest and spookiest cities in North America—St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Founded in 2021 by GRIND MIND, the sixth edition of our festival takes place at the historic Majestic Theatre, in the heart of the city's downtown. FOGFEST VI aims to showcase the next wave of genre creators from the island and around the world. Packed with screenings & events, we're bringing an experience for horror filmmakers and fans to connect and celebrate the culture and creatures that make us who we are.

I have zero regrets about flying in from Toronto for Fogfest 2025 and can't wait to have reason to return for a future edition. Shane and Sarah and the whole team are the dang best.

This is a fantastic festival. I unfortunately wasn't able to attend in person, and I feel like I truly missed out. There is excellent variety in the programming, and the communication from the festival staff is superb. I really appreciate FOGFEST supporting my film "Locksmith", and for their championing of independent horror in general. I look forward to submitting my next film for consideration!
