"FOGFEST PROVES THAT NEWFOUNDLAND’S HORROR SCENE IS ON FIRE. While very much a DIY endeavor, this festival looked and felt world-class. In an industry mired in ego and endless elbow-rubbing, FogFest put the focus back where it should be – on art and havin’ a time." - Jessica Buck, Rue Morgue

Steeped in the fog of Canada's most easterly point, on an island surrounded by the roaring Atlantic Ocean and enveloped by the darkness of dense, sprawling woods, FOGFEST was born; an independent horror film festival in one of the oldest and spookiest cities in North America—St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

Founded in 2021 by GRIND MIND, the fifth edition of our festival takes place at the historic and newly renovated Majestic Theatre, in the heart of the city's downtown. FOGFEST V aims to showcase the next wave of genre creators from the island and around the world. Packed with screenings & events (Drag shows! VHS swap!) we're bringing an experience for horror filmmakers and fans to connect and celebrate the culture and creatures that make us who we are.

Although I was not able to attend FOGFEST in person, my aunt lives in St. John's & attended as my spy :) She had nothing but good things to say about her experience at the screening of our short film Bath Bomb. The festival team was also excellent to communicate with during our correspondence leading up to the festival, and I gotta say that they have some of the most killer branding in the genre game :) I hope to attend in person at future editions.

FOGFEST is nothing short of phenomenal. Great communication and variety. Unfortunately, I couldn't be there in person but I'm definitely planning on attending next year.

It was such a pleasure to screen another film with FOGFEST this year! Their team communicates very well, and even though I wasn't able to join in person this year, we felt taken care of and involved in events that we *could* have joined - which makes me even more inclined to hopefully catch this fest in real life next year. Thank you for having us, Fogfest! -Team Volition
