Zoe Cleland is a Canadian Screen Award-nominated actor, writer, and emerging director. A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, she is known for her featured roles in Murdoch Mysteries (CBC), Reign (CW), and as Tatiana in CBC Gem’s The Communist’s Daughter-a performance that earned her a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Supporting Performance in a Web Program or Series. In 2020, Zoe launched her production company, Sweet Sorrow Productions, through which she wrote, directed, produced, and starred in her debut short film, Blueberries for Iris. The film premiered at the Atlantic International Film Festival in 2023 and went on to win an award and receive multiple festival nominations. Her second short, The Newcomer, premiered at the Fog Fest Horror Film Festival in 2024, and both films have since screened at the acclaimed Nightmares Film Festival, which has earned a reputation as the "Cannes of horror." Now based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, her recent credits include Juliet in Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) at Perchance Theatre, a guest appearance on Hudson & Rex, and a leading role in the upcoming season of Bell Fibe TV’s Only the Night Knows, opposite Ruth Lawrence and Mary Walsh.
