Desenzano Film Festival

𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗨𝗦 𝗦𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗔𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗙𝗨𝗟

We believe in cinema as a human and radical gesture.
We seek films that question the world we inhabit, that cross it with courage, and return to us its wounds, visions, dreams, and contradictions.
We invite filmmakers of all origins, ages, identities, and backgrounds to join us: Desenzano Film Festival is an open space where independent gazes become a shared language.

Selected films will compete in our IMDb-qualifying competition. Animation, documentary, and fiction works will be screened in an 18th-century theatre, while the experimental section will be presented in a gallery located in the heart of Desenzano, on Lake Garda.

We're committed to showcasing different genres and approaches to filmmaking, from fiction films to documentaries and animation. Experimental films will frame the event by being screened in a Gallery in the middle of Desenzano for 10 days!

Over the years we have hosted films by Charles Williams (Cannes Palme d'Or), Dekel Berenson (Palme D'Or nominee) Louise Courvoisier and Lucia Bulgheroni (Cannes Cinefondation), Antony Nti (Oscar Nominee), Simone Bozzelli (Venice Critics Week Winner) Tommaso Frangini (Venice Critics Week nominee) Prantik Basu (Rotterdam nominee) and many other authors which later got recognized by major awards, along with filmmakers with their first films, students and independent producers.

Over the years, we have hosted:

Giuseppe Lanci - Director of Photography
He made over 70 films in his career, some of which made cinema history. As a camera operator, he worked on "C'era una volta il west" by 𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙤 𝙇𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙚, "Casanova" by 𝙁𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙤 𝙁𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙞, "Porcile" by 𝙋𝙞𝙚𝙧 𝙋𝙖𝙤𝙡𝙤 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙞. 𝙃𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙝𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙮 𝙤𝙛 “𝙉𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙜𝙝𝙞𝙖” 𝙗𝙮 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗷 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗼𝘃𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗷, “Caro Diario” by 𝙉𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙞 𝙈𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙞 as well as having collaborated with Bellocchio, the Tavani brothers, Von Trotta, Wertmuller, Benigni, and many others.

Jacopo Quadri – Film Editor
Jacopo Quadri has edited over 90 films and is one of the most acclaimed Italian film editors. He worked with masters such as 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗼 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗶 (The Dreamers), 𝗚𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗼 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗶 (Sacro GRA, Fuocoammare), 𝗔𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗸𝘂𝗹 (Cemetery of Splendour), Paolo Virzì, Mario Martone, and many others. His work has been awarded the Golden Bear, Golden Lion, and multiple David di Donatello and Ciak d’Oro awards.

Franco Piavoli - Director
Born in 1933, he directed "Il Pianeta Azzurro" in competition at the 50th edition of the Venice Film Festival and 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗷 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗼𝘃𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗷 "𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲".

Stefano Cipani - Director
Born in 1986 in Salò, he directed "Mio fratello rincorre i dinosauri" and 𝘄𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗱𝗶 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬.

Gianfilippo Pedote - Producer
Born in 1952, he's produced over 40 films like "Un'ora sola ti vorrei" by Alina Marazzi awarded at 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 and "Selfie" by Agostino Ferrente awarded with 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗱𝗶 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬.

Ondina Quadri - Actress
Born in 1994, she 𝘄𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟲 for the role played in the movie "Arianna" directed by Carlo Lavagna. She also works on "Capri-Revolution" by Carlo Martone and "Le notti magiche" by Paolo Virzì.

Maura Morales Bergman - Cinematographer
Born in 1979, she is the director of photography of the 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 "𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗴𝗼, 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮" 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗡𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶. She also directed her own documentary "Entierros" in 2017.

Fabio Nunziata - Editor
Editor of 𝗔𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗮's film since 2005, he also worked with 𝗖𝗶𝗽𝗿𝗶 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗼.

Stefano Cravero - Editor
Born in 1977, 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗱𝗶 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼 𝗡𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲 for editing "Nico 1988" by Susanna Nicchiarelli in 2018.

Piero Deggiovanni - Critics
Born in 1957. Professor of History of Contemporary Art and History and Theory of New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and Artistic director of Asolo Art FilmFestival
