Hello and Hail Satan! We're the Demonic Brilliance Film Festival (DBFF) and we are New Brunswick's Premiere Horror Film Festival!

We love all things horror and as horror filmmakers ourselves, we strive to highlight the best horror films and the people who make them, while raising money for charity!

We want fun horror films that take no prisoners and bleed excellence! If it's a splatter film, we want blood, guts and body fluids! If it's a supernatural story we want spooky atmosphere and amazing production value! Basically, we’re looking for horror films that kick ass!

We welcome filmmakers’ who understand the importance of good acting, stellar lighting, cinematography and detailed production design and we love to see horror films that make you think and carry themselves with intelligence.

Unlike most film festivals who snub horror films when it comes to award eligibility, we aim to celebrate greatness in the horror genre and give out awards in all major categories.

We donate 100% of screening proceeds to charities. To date, we have raised money for NB Lung, Connecting Humanity, Imprint Youth Association, The Palestine Children's Relief Fund, Lily's Place Animal Sanctuary, Chroma NB, Fredericton Community Kitchens, United 24, FSPCA, and The Indian Residential School Survivors Society.

Rules & Terms

By submitting, you grant DBFF the right to use your film/image for promotion of the festival.

Submit via FilmFreeway.

All horror sub-genres welcomed.

There is no specific time limits.

There is no set completion date required & it doesn't matter if your film is already online.

For non-English films, English subtitles are preferred.

Submission fees are non-refundable and we do not pay screening fees.

When submitting please include full crew & cast lists, email, posters, stills, headshots and bios. We want to promote you!

There is no limit to the number of films one person can submit.

Online, HD links are the preferred method to download films.

Filmmakers must have the rights to all images and music in their film.

    I feel honored to have had my short The Return of the Nacken included this year’s Demonic Brilliance Film Festival. I applaud this festival for their great communication, quality program, and marketing. While I couldn’t attend, I could feel that there is so much heart that goes into this festival! You could feel their enthusiasm, support for filmmakers, and passion for dark artwork and film through their social media posts. It was so nice to see all the pictures posted from the festival—I truly wished I could have been there! Very cool film festival!

    My sons and I are so incredibly honored that our short film BEYOND THE BLEED LIMIT was accepted and screened at this epic festival. Although we weren't able to attend we followed closely on social media. Fantastic films, amazing filmmakers and great communication. Bonus points for the fact that all proceeds from the screenings are donated to charity! The Demonic Brilliance Film Festival is FANTASTIC!! Highly Recommend!!
