The XVIII Edition of COFFI - CortOglobo Film Festival Italy will take place in December 2023 for five days in the amazing location of Vietri sul Mare in the Amalfi Cost.

The festival was born fifteen years ago and the goal was very simple: to create a cultural event in the South of Italy (Angri, Salerno) in order to entertain, educate and involve people around cinema.

After the first years, its mission has had an important evolution becoming an important event dedicated to independent and alternative cinema: over 7,000 selected films, over 400 shorts shown, over 12,000 people have passed through COFFI.

The categories in competition are four, concerning different sections:

-Short films (for the section called “Sguardi d’Autore”) made by professionals;

-Short films (for the section “Nuovi Percorsi”) experimental section reserved for Thriller (all films that have FEAR as their main theme), Videoclip with a new music or any kind of production which speaks about music, Web Series (with only one episode particularly representative of the entire series). Time limit 15' (included credits).

-Animation: dedicated to children and lovers of comics and drawing.;

-Documentary.

Coffi isn’t only about screenings, but also workshop and meeting hold by important personalities of the cinema.
Furthermore, Coffi hosts several cultural initiatives that give life to events around music, painting, cinematography, theatre and cartoon.
In this way, Coffi’s original mission moves on and everyone is welcomed to participate and express their own art, exchange ideas, share knowledge and create the biggest cultural event dedicated to different arts.

WINNERS AND AWARDS

The Technical Jury will award the following prizes:

Short Films - section "Sguardi d’Autore": Prize of 500 € (or alternative prize) + Award
Short Films - section "Nuovi Percorsi": Prize of 250€ (or alternative prize) + Award
Short Films - section "Animazione" COFFI Award
Documentario: COFFI Award

The Technical Jury will give also a special prize to these following categories:

- Best Original Soundtrack/Original Score
- Best Actor/Actress
- Best Screenplay
- Best Production
- Best Cinematography
- Best Editing

COFFI CUP
The Public Jury will award the following prize: COFFI Cup.

GOLDEN GLOBE
‘O GLOBO Association reserves the right to award a special prize for the most original idea to any short film included in the competition, the “Golden Globe”.

COLLECTION OF PRIZES
To have the right for the prizes, it will be necessary for the physical presence of the director, the main actor or the producer during the awarding in the finals. Otherwise, the same will be reduced by 50%.

N.B. PRIZES WILL BE PAID ONLY AFTER THE ORGANIZATION RECEIVES FUNDS REQUIRED BY PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS WHO FINANCE THE FESTIVAL.

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS TO COFFI – CORTOGLOBO FILM FESTIVAL ITALIA – XVIII EDITION 2023

1. COMPETITIVE SECTIONS
Participation is open to all without any limitation of subject matter or gender and country of origin.
Due to the high number of works received, the festival selection board has decided to divide the finalists in five different categories.
Here are the categories:
- Sguardi d’autore: short films made by professionals. No thematic or genre limits. Time limit 15' (included credits).
- Nuovi percorsi: independent authors with low budgets. No thematic or genre limits. Time limit 15' (included credits).
- Documentary: Italian and foreign documentaries are allowed in this section in any genre and format. Time limit 50' (included credits).
- Animation: Section dedicated to children and lovers of comics and drawing. No thematic or genre limit. Time limit 15' (included credits).

N.B. All works for each category must have both Italian and English subtitles.

2. TECHNICAL ASPECTS
Works made in Italy or abroad will be able to participate in the competition after January 2018. The Festival won't admit works submitted at previous editions or on-line.
Each author can send more than one work. It's up to the Committee to choose only one work that will be admitted to the competition among the ones sent.

All submitted works will be preselected by a Selection Board.
Passing the pre-selection will imply the admission to the finals. Only the selected works will be announced on our website (www.coffifestival.it) under the heading “in contest".

Filling out the entry-form, the participants have to select the category in which they want to compete. The Selection Board reserves the right to move one short movie into another category for a better programming.

The Selection Board reserves the right to screen the works that have not been selected and therefore considered "out of competition".

3. Juries
COFFI Festival, established two different juries: a Technical Jury and a Popular Jury, in order to highlight the difference between the opinion of the professionals and the public.
The Technical Jury (made by experts of the genre and professionals of the audio visual field) will decide only one winner for each category in the competition.
The Public Jury will assign a score (from 1 point to 5) to a final short film among all the categories, through an evaluation form, according to their own personal choice.
