2020 COAST FILM FESTIVAL WILL PROCEED - COVID-19 NOTICE
The Coast Film Festival plans to have an onsite film festival with a live audience in Laguna Beach November 12-15, 2020. However, we are at the mercy of the state and municipal government regarding reopening of these venues and are working closely with CDC guidelines to determine what format the festival will take and will keep you posted; whether it will be held in physical Laguna venues, online, or in some combination of the two with both screenings and panel discussions. Either will enable filmmakers to have their production seen by a significant audience. Prizes and awards will still be presented.
CFF is a celebration of film and stories told about places and people from the mountains to the sea and the spaces in between shared through the best of film, art and community. We showcase independent filmmakers and their documentary films about adventure, action sports and nature. The interactive multi-day experience is designed to bring the community together and raise awareness about the great outdoors, self discovery and the inherent need to protect and preserve wild places to enjoy them eternally.
The 2019 festival was our first. We screened 28 short and long form documentary films by both recognized and rising star filmmakers. Topics ranged from surf, ski, snowboard, mountain bike, skateboarding, climbing, paddling, running, sea exploration, adventure and stories about people's life learned experiences outdoors. Inspiring talks and panel discussions with producers and people in the films followed most screenings.
This year’s Festival runs from Thursday, November 12 to Sunday November 15, with all venues in Laguna’s downtown and nearby art festival venues. Cash prizes for top films including Best of Show, Audience Choice and others.
Each selected film will be marketed and given laurels and recognized in the program and through event promotions. We encourage all filmmakers to come to the event and selected individuals will have the opportunity be on a panel and share their story with fans and network with the community leaders and notable people from the active outdoor and surf industries who will be attending.
Awards & Prizes will be given for;
Best of Show
Best Feature film
Best Short film
Our deadline for submissions is September 30 and selections will be notified on or before October 15.
