Festival Dates are August 25th - 26th, 2023

Camp Horror is The Roxy Theater’s love letter to the Montana horror community. After starting a very successful monthly b-horror movie series, it was obvious there was a hunger for the grimy, over the top films that usually never see the light of day, let alone screened in a historic art house theater. This festival is completely driven by the passion of the people in Missoula, Montana who show up to celebrate horror every chance they get.

Camp Horror specifically focuses on the campy horror movies of the past, while highlighting where the genre is going with newer submitted films. All packaged as a summer camp experience, the festival is filled with more than just theater screenings. On top of sold out films, the festival has had comedy shows, s’mores parties, exclusive beer and river floats that show off the beauty of Montana.

While the festival line up is still a work in progress, the overall theme and vision will be surrounded by the 1959 masterpiece "The Tingler", which will screen on 35mm. We will be accepting a good handful of shorts for a free shorts block, and one feature film to open the festival.

Camp Horror is committed to making this festival accessible to all and will make accommodations when need be. Because of this, films submitted are required to have an open-captioned version of their film for the festival.

This is a strictly in-person festival due to the community aspect. The theater’s covid protocols have kept past festival goers safe, and worse case scenario the festival would be canceled if it felt unsafe.

Come visit a beautiful city and network with the up and coming film scene, be apart of the only horror film festival in the whole state, and watch out for the Sack Lunch Slasher.

Camp Horror Film Festival is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations.

  • This was an unbelievable and completely unforgettable experience. Being a part of this fest was like meeting my horror freak family! Our film “Madd4_U” couldn’t have asked for a better and more fitting home. Every film was the perfect amount of campy horror and dark comedy. I was laughing and flinching the whole time I was in the beautiful Roxy Theater. Solveig and co. were absolutely delightful. They were friendly, accommodating and super fun! I would go back I’m a heartbeat. This is the fest if my dreams/nightmares. Can’t wait for next year. Plus Missoula is beautiful (and David Lynch was born there). Worth every penny! Submit today 😈
