The Copper Flower International Youth Film Festival showcases the world's best youth-made short films. It is a diverse collection that includes all genres, celebrates youth culture, and unveils a new generation of filmmakers.

Our mission is to provide a platform for emerging youth filmmakers till the age of 35, around the world to reach the broadest possible audience and to generate international dialogue through cinema. The festival looks to celebrate and inspire filmmakers to develop their technical and creative skills and become true ambassadors of respect and understanding for the future.

We are a premium festival in youth film festival circuit and do not charge any submission fees.

Awards & Prizes

All films received that follow the festival's rules and guidelines will be firstly thoroughly viewed by a pre-jury and secondly by a selection jury. The winners will be chosen by a youth jury and members of the creative and film industry.

All selected films will receive laurels and the winning films will receive a custom copper flower trophy at the awards ceremony only and a mention in the local media.

Judging Criteria

Concept & Writing
Is the story or concept unique? Is the storytelling or narrative coherent, and does it hold your attention? Does the writing have resonance and stay with you long after viewing it? Determining the quality of concept & writing considers all the elements that go into the creative process and how successfully the original idea is communicated.

Quality of Craft
Determining the quality of craft focuses on the filmmaking process and technical execution. This includes the appearance and quality of the captured image, editing, sound design and audio integration, performances, lighting, and all the aspects that account for a memorable viewing experience. Quality of Craft means more than just a pretty looking film or video, and it doesn’t necessitate that it be cutting edge or trendy.

Integration
How well the work is implemented in the medium? Can you fully experience the quality of the work, or are there technical or media-specific issues preventing you from experiencing it to its fullest?

Execution
The brilliance of an idea can easily fall flat if not executed properly. Execution becomes more difficult when taking into account the different ways media is consumed including differences in technology, location and user preferences. While reviewing Execution, consider the following: Is the experience seamless?

Overall Experience
Demonstrating that a film or video can be more or less than the sum of its parts, the overall experience encompasses concept & writing, execution, quality of craft, as well as the intangibles that provoke viewer response. Repeat viewing or visiting generally indicates a generally positive overall experience.

Rules & Terms

In order to be considered, all submissions must:

1) be made by filmmakers till the age of 35
2) be under 15 minutes (including titles and credits), [for short films] and between 60 and 90 minutes [for feature films]
3) be original video (video you shot yourself) or have permission to use,
4) have original music or music you have permission to use,
5) be in Russian or with Russian/English subtitles (not burned in)
6) have a high-quality PAL version of the film available
7) must be suitable for viewers under 16

Filmmakers, producers or musicians submitting music videos into the festival must possess all necessary permissions/ rights to submit their video. The submitter grants CFYFF the non-exclusive rights to reproduce the video or part of the video and to showcase the video for the purposes of the festival or its promotion.

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
Participation does not require and prerequisite registration. Please be aware of the categories and fees. Choose carefully as there are no refunds. If in doubt, please contact us. Our friendly crew would be happy to help. All proposals received after the deadline and/or not meeting the above criteria will be excluded from the competition.

COPYRIGHT
Each participant or team submitting a proposal recognizes that he/she/they is the author of the film. The participants must also certify that the submission does not affect any third-party rights and does not violate copyright, directly or indirectly. The selected projects will become the non-exclusive property of The Copper Flower Youth Film Festival, which reserve the right to use, modify, exhibit in the present and in the future, sell as a by-product of the festival, adapt and reproduce the poster and film in any medium, without any given time limit. The original copyright will still be held by the filmmakers. Participants are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions and clearances related to the reproduction of people’s names, photos and moving images.

PREFFERED FORMAT
4K, 2K, DCP files, 1920*1080 (Full HD, 1080p), but not less than 720х576. Sound 24 kHz or higher and compression: MP3, WAV, AAC.

    Нас очень тепло встретили. Множество гостей, фотографов и прессы, красная ковровая дорожка, фотосессии, аниматоры, в оригинальных зеркальных костюмах.

    Еще до начала церемонии, к нам подошёл Мантавиа Марвах - основатель и президент фестиваля. Как оказалось, он сразу нас узнал и был давно с нами знаком заочно. Помнит все наши работы прошлых лет и даже ребят, которые "растут из фильма в фильм прямо на глазах". Очень приятный, улыбчивый и харизматичный человек, к очень хорошим русским!

    Как оказалось в итоге, нас знают вообще все организаторы и члены жюри! "Наконец-то вы с нами! Мы вас так долго ждали!" - наверное самое частое, что мы слышали в этот вечер.
    Нас любезно посадили на первый ряд, прямо рядом с членами международного жюри.
    Церемония вышла действительно зрелищной и интересной. 3 экрана, лазерное и световое шоу с дым-машинами, артистичные ведущие и чудесно выстроенная программа, с выступлениями творческих коллективов и объявлениями победителей в разных номинациях. Все очень красочно и по хорошему помпезно.
    Наступила очередь нашей номинации. В финале мы, работа девочки из Санкт-Петербурга и лента из Испании (с огромным бюджетом). На большом экране показывают отрывки из фильмов-номинантов. И вот, объявляют. «Победитель в номинации «Лучший короткометражный фильм - «Разве?»! Режиссёр Анастасия Щербанёва!». Наконец-то, заветная статуэтка в руках воспитанника «ЛисАрт»!!!
    Вечер продолжился объявлениями победителей других номинаций и интересными выступлениями. Кульминацией вечера стала международная премьера (!!!) фильма «Видение», американского режиссёра Джейми Касслера, (лично присутствовал на церемонии). Замечательная, душевная работа!

    В завершении вечера состоялся фуршет, на котором в тёплой, душевной обстановке, у участников, организаторов и членов жюри, появилась прекрасная возможность пообщаться и познакомиться поближе, в неформальной обстановке. Мы прекрасно пообщались и ближе познакомились с организаторами и участниками. Особенно плотной и интересной получилась беседа с президентом Мантавиа Марвахом, который не переставал лить на нас слова восхищения всем тем, что мы делаем у себя в «ЛисАрте». Специально к нам подошла продюсер из Швейцарии Шалом Маюми и с нескрываемым восхищением стала расхваливать работу наших ребят, их профессиональный подход к делу и тот добрый, душевный посыл, который они вкладывают в свои фильмы. Именно это и стало определяющим фактором, при выборе победителя.

    «Медный дендрит» - главная награда фестиваля. Каждый из них уникален и выращивается в течении долгого времени на медном комбинате Пышмы, методом электролиза. В итоге, после многочисленных химических манипуляций и ручной обработки и оформления, получается дендрит из 99.99% меди, как бы вырастающий из россыпи Уральских самоцветов и оформленный в красивую стеклянную колбу с подсветкой. Очень оригинальная, уникальная и красивая статуэтка, которая станет украшением нашего музея наград.

    В итоге - масса положительных эмоций и воспоминаний, полученных всего за один день, и новая цель - «БОЛЬШОЙ ДЕНДРИТ» за Гран-при!)))
    Спасибо тебе, «Медный цветок»! Спасибо Пышма! Спасибо ЕКБ! Спасибо Урал! Мы еще обязательно увидимся! Жди!
