“Cinema is a matter of what’s in the frame and what’s out” - Martin Scorsese

The Best of Asia Short Film Festival (BOASFF), formerly known as Best of India Short Film Festival was founded in 2017 by ShortsTV (www.shorts.tv) to honour, celebrate stories and recognise the exceptional work of filmmakers where the Writers, Directors or Producers are from or have roots connected to Asia.

The festival’s aim is to discover high quality and cinematic short films and give a selected few a chance at Oscar qualification where the winning short film/s chosen in the contest will play theatrically in LA, San Francisco or New York for a week as a ticketed event organised by ShortsTV, in order to make the film/s eligible for Oscar qualification.

(Subject to Academy rules: https://www.oscars.org/sites/oscars/files/2024-04/97_live_action_short_rules.pdf).

We aim to recognise and elevate the exceptional works of the most creative short film makers from across Asia, giving them a global platform to showcase their work and opening new opportunities, including Oscar® consideration. We look for powerful narratives and stories that are able to inspire a topic of discussion. It is also our goal to open doors for possible TV broadcast deals and other opportunities to benefit the short filmmaker.

The officially selected films will screen as a part of a hybrid digital festival showcase on ShortsTV, the global home of short films and the festival promoter. We will send you an acceptance email and need you to authorize the showcasing by signing an MOU for the festival screening and we will request a digital copy of your film.

ShortsTV also are the producers and distributers of the the annual Oscar Nominated Short Films theatrical release, bringing the world’s top awarded short movies to the big screen.

Our team at the Best of Asia Short Film Festival is made up of industry professionals; film producers, independent film consultants and festival organisers who have been in the business for 20+ years.

The people who work here are extremely courteous and professional in their communication. They respond promptly to emails, and I have had a great experience interacting with them, particularly Mr. Sohail Anjum, who is exceptionally polite and courteous in his communication."
