BLUE YOUTH — Curated International Film Festival is a filmmaker-driven platform dedicated to bold, expressive, and independent cinema.

Founded by award-winning, Gopo-nominated Romanian filmmaker Lucas Neagu, BLUE YOUTH was born out of real film production experience and a clear frustration with opaque festival models or pretentious, closed-circuit selection criteria. Our mission is simple: hand-pick outstanding films, promote them meaningfully, and create real opportunities for young and independent voices.

We operate as a highly curated competition, selecting a limited number of films across all genres. Each submission is fully watched and carefully evaluated based on authenticity, relevance, creativity, visual originality, and storytelling strength. No algorithms, no mass selections—just cinema we truly believe in.

Selected films compete for curated awards and gain visibility through our website and social media platforms. BLUE YOUTH International Film Festival is a live, in-person event held in Timișoara, Romania—a former European Capital of Culture—at Habitat B1, one of the city’s most exciting alternative cinema and art spaces.

The annual festival features public screenings, jury-awarded prizes, industry networking, workshops, and community events, celebrating the very best films discovered throughout the year.
