A message from BITFF
After twelve years, the Brighton International Trans Film Festival is taking a pause, and submissions are closed for 2026. This year would have been our 13th, and it was not an easy decision to make.
We have always run BITFF as a tiny team of unpaid volunteers, and the truth is that funding is scarce, support is thin, and burnout is real. Our usual slot at the Duke of York's on the Friday before Trans Pride Brighton also isn't available this year. Rather than put on something that falls short, we would rather pause and protect what BITFF means.
This matters most to you, the film-makers. Year after year you have trusted us with your work, and the proudest moments of this festival have been a packed cinema moved by the films you made. That is exactly why we don't want to run it at half capacity. If BITFF continues, it deserves to be a well oiled machine that does your films justice.
This is not goodbye. If you would like to help take BITFF forward, run it, or support it financially so it can become everything it should be, we would love to hear from you. Please email mygenderation@gmail.com.
Thank you for being part of this. Please forgive us for pausing this year, and we hope to welcome your work again.
With love,
Fox Fisher, Director, and the BITFF team
