BIDEODROMO Internacional Experimental Film and Video Festival starts in October 2026 in Bilbao (Basque Country -Spain) and is now accepting entries for its festival.
We are open to all kind of experimental films including documentary, narrative, experimental, animation, video art and other genres.

Awards & Prizes

BIDEODROMO is not mainly a competition, but we have a jury that will decide what will be the best film screened. The winner will receive a budget of 300 €. Second best will receive 200 € and the third 100€. There is also a special prize of 100 € for the best film from Euskal Herria (Basque Country) patronized by EITB. Artists that want to be considered for this special prize must tell they are born or live in Euskal Herria.
We have another special award for works made by students or ex-stundents of the university of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. prize is 50€

Rules & Terms

Rules and Suggestions:
‐ Subtitles in spanish, basque or english are needed. ‐ You must fill out one application form per film you submit. ‐ We prefer to receive the videos in MOV or AVI format. - Don't send more than two films per author.

    I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the organisation and communication practices of your festival. I was contacted by Txema Agiriano and informed that I had been selected as a semi-finalist, and that my film would be screened during the final gala. I was explicitly told: “If you can't attend it, it will be fine if you could send a short salutation video.” At no point was there any apology or explanation regarding the lack of an invitation.
    Acting in good faith, I invested several hours in preparing and submitting the requested video. After sending it, however, I received no further communication of any kind. My subsequent email - requesting documentation of the event as well as the necessary details for issuing an invoice - has remained unanswered.
    This complete absence of follow-up, accountability, or even basic courtesy is unacceptable. The experience has left the impression of an unprofessional operation, if not an outright scam. Based on this conduct, I cannot recommend this festival to other filmmakers or colleagues.

    I'm sorry you're disappointed. The festival doesn't have a direct communication protocol with participants. It's a non-profit festival, and we prefer to focus our efforts on other matters.

    Many thanks to festival directors Txema Agiriano and Josu Lafont for the warm welcome and for selecting our short film "Waveland"! A programme full of inspiring films combined with an art exhibition. After the screenings, we went to one of Bilbao's many pubs to talk about the films and have fun. A small and therefore very personal festival.

    I was happy to be part of the line up for BIDEODROMO 2025. I wasn't able to attend in person but the organisers were clear with their communication for what looked look like a very interesting programme. Thanks for selecting my debut film!
