Films made in Japan with Japanese langauage do not need subtitles.
Films apart from Japanese Language need English subtitles.

Make sure that your project follows all the mentioned criteria before submitting it:

AKITA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL.
Is open to any film completed after January 1, 2024, regardless of content, subject, or origin. Submitting your film to this festival does not guarantee a selection. All officially selected candidates and the winners will be listed on our website. All Award winners will receive a certificate and laurel.
秋田国際映画祭。
2024年1月1日以降に完成した映画であれば、内容・題材・製作国を問わず応募可能です。本映画祭への応募は選考を保証するものではありません。公式選考候補作品および受賞作品は全て公式サイトに掲載されます。全ての受賞者には賞状と栄誉が授与されます。
1. Films made in languages other than Japanese must have English subtitles, otherwise they will automatically be rejected.
1. 日本語以外の言語で制作された映画には英語字幕が必須であり、そうでない場合は自動的に却下されます。
2. The film submitted to AIFF can be re-submitted in a different category, at any time for a second chance.
2. AIFFに提出された作品は、別の部門に再提出することができ、いつでも再挑戦の機会が与えられます。
3. A submitter can submit more than one film in a single category or a single film in more than one category, simultaneously.
3. 応募者は、一つの部門に複数の作品を同時に応募することも、一つの作品を複数の部門に同時に応募することも可能です。
4. AIFF reserves the right to refuse entries, if a violation of any of the above rules is found.
4. AIFFは、上記の規則のいずれかに違反していることが判明した場合、応募を拒否する権利を留保します。
5. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the AIFF, from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, and publicity.
5. あなたは、著作権、商標、クレジット、およびパブリシティ権に関連するいかなる請求に起因して生じる可能性のある、あらゆる請求、責任、損失、損害、および費用（弁護士費用および裁判費用を含むがこれらに限定されない）について、AIFFを補償し、免責することに同意するものとします。
6. The AIFF will not refund any fees if the filmmaker fails to submit the film in the correct category. Films submitted without the correct fees or proper submission media may be deemed ineligible at the discretion of the AIFF programming director or executive director. The festival does not cover any of the expenses incurred by the filmmaker.
6. 応募者が作品を正しい部門に提出しなかった場合、AIFFは一切の費用を返金しません。正しい参加費を支払っていない、または適切な提出媒体で提出されていない作品は、AIFFプログラムディレクターまたは事務局長の裁量により、応募資格がないと判断される場合があります。映画祭は応募者が負担した費用を一切負担しません。
7. After a film has been official selection, the filmmaker will be notified,The Official Selection status doesn’t mean that your film will be screened at the festival. It means that your film has been appreciated by our judges of the panel and you can use the festival logo on your poster.
7. 作品が公式選出された後、制作者に通知されます。公式選出ステータスは、作品が映画祭で上映されることを意味するものではありません。これは、審査員パネルによって作品が高く評価されたことを示し、ポスターに映画祭のロゴを使用できることを意味します。
8. A nominee will be privately screened for the AIFF judging panel, and will not be screened initially to the public.
8. ノミネート作品はAIFF審査委員会の非公開審査対象となり、当初は一般公開されません。
9 . “Best” films of each category will receive a laurel & certificate.
9. 各部門の「最優秀」作品には月桂樹と表彰状が授与されます。
10. A filmmaker’s submission fee will not be reimbursed if they decide to withdraw their submission. All entry fees are non-refundable.
10. 応募作品の撤回を決定した場合、映画製作者への応募料の返金は行われません。すべての応募料は返金不可です。
11. We require an official trailer or poster, a synopsis, and a link to your film. Please select the correct category while submitting to avoid disqualification. We reserve the right to re-assign films to the appropriate category.
11. 公式予告編またはポスター、あらすじ、および作品へのリンクが必要です。失格を避けるため、応募時には正しいカテゴリーを選択してください。当社は作品を適切なカテゴリーに再割り当てする権利を留保します。
12. AIFF may without advance notice amend these Rules & Terms from time to time. Each and every such amendment shall become effective immediately.
You are responsible for periodically checking for updates on these Rules & Terms.
12. AIFFは事前の通知なしに随時本規約を改定することがあります。かかる改定はすべて直ちに効力を生じます。
お客様は本規約の更新を定期的に確認する責任を負います。
DISCLAIMER:
All filmmakers understand and accept that if their film is accepted for presentation and screening at the film festival, they grant full and unrestricted permission for AIFF to screen the film/video at times of the festival’s choice and to charge an admission fee for the presentation of the digital video program. All the presented films/videos do win a Award from the festival, AIFF only screens winners.
The Filmmaker understands and accepts that they do not participate in receiving any funds from the Box-office proceeds which are fully retained by the festival to help cover the overall cost of the festival presentation. It should be noted for the record that box-office proceeds never cover the cost of the presentation of the Features and Short Film Programs.
Required Legal Stuff: The filmmaker releases the festival (AIFF) from any and all liability for damages or destruction of the entered DCP. The Filmmaker understands that the entered DCP will be retained in a secure facility by the festival, and every effort will be taken to protect and control the viewing of this production. The festival assumes no liability whatsoever for theft, copyright violations, or piracy of the entry.
免責事項：
全ての映画製作者は、自身の作品が映画祭での上映に採用された場合、AIFFが映画祭の選択する時間帯に当該作品の上映を行うこと、およびデジタル映像プログラムの上映に対して入場料を徴収することについて、完全かつ無制限の許可を与えることを理解し承諾するものとします。上映される全ての作品が映画祭の賞を受賞するわけではなく、AIFFは受賞作品のみを上映します。
映画製作者は、興行収入からの資金分配には一切参加せず、当該収入は映画祭全体の運営費用に充当されるため映画祭が全額留保することを理解し承諾する。なお、興行収入は長編・短編映画プログラムの上映費用を賄うことは決してないことを記録のために付記する。
法的要件：応募者は、応募したDCPの損傷または破壊に関する一切の責任を映画祭（AIFF）が負わないことを承諾する。応募者は、応募したDCPが映画祭により安全な施設で保管され、本作品の保護および視聴管理に最大限の努力が払われることを理解する。応募作品の盗難、著作権侵害、または海賊版作成について、映画祭は一切の責任を負わない。
