OBIETTIVI
24 Frame al Secondo nasce nel 2023 come concorso dedicato alla valorizzazione dei talenti della «Generazione Z». Il concorso è in memoria di Francesco Valdiserri, studente di Letteratura, Musica e Spettacolo alla Sapienza di Roma, vittima di omicidio stradale a 18 anni. La finale della prima edizione (aprile 2024) si è tenuta al cinema Troisi di Roma, con Paolo Virzì come presidente di Giuria. La finale della seconda edizione (maggio 2025) si è tenuta all’Auditorium di Roma, con Paola Cortellesi come presidente di Giuria.
OBJECTIVES
24 Frames per Second was launched in 2023 as a competition dedicated to highlighting the talents of "Generation Z." The competition is in memory of Francesco Valdiserri, a student of Literature, Music and Entertainment at Sapienza University of Rome, who was killed in a car accident at the age of 18. The final of the first edition (April 2024) was held at the Troisi Cinema in Rome, with Paolo Virzì as president of the jury. The final of the second edition (May 2025) was held at the Auditorium in Rome, with Paola Cortellesi as president of the jury.

Il concorso prevede quattro semifinali, a Roma, tra i cortometraggi scelti dalla giuria tra marzo e aprile 2026. Sarà previsto anche un voto popolare - solo per chi sarà presente alle proiezioni - attraverso il quale un cortometraggio potrà accedere alla finale. La FINALE fra i migliori lavori selezionati si terrà il 3-4-5 maggio 2026 al Cinema Nuovo Sacher di Roma.
DATES
The competition includes four semifinal rounds in theaters in Rome, among the short films selected by the jury between March and April 2026. A popular vote—only for those attending the screenings—will also be held, allowing a short film to advance to the finals. The FINAL among the best selected works will be held 3-4-5 May 2026 at Cinema Nuovo Sacher in Rome.

I PREMI
Una giuria formata da critici cinematografici, giovani attori, docenti, esperti cinefili - assegnerà il premio al miglior cortometraggio consistente in 1.000 euro più la proiezione su Rai Cinema Channel, che da questa edizione diventa partner del concorso.
Premio della Giuria: 500 euro; Migliore regia – 500 euro; Miglior film straniero – 500; Miglior attrice – 250; Miglior attore – 250; Miglior sceneggiatura – 250; Miglior fotografia – 250; Miglior montaggio – 250; Miglior colonna sonora 250; Miglior postproduzione 250; Premio Shotiko per gli esordienti – 250. I premi sono previsti per i cortometraggi italiani, più un premio per il miglior film straniero.
24 Frame ha i patrocini del Ministero per lo Sport e i Giovani, del Corriere della Sera e dei Nastri d’Argento. Ha attivato gemellaggi con La Settima Arte di Rimini e con Dominio Pubblico. I cortometraggi vincitori sono stati proiettati al Padiglione della Regione Veneto al Festival del Cinema di Venezia, al Giffoni Film Festival, al Tempo delle Donne del Corriere della Sera alla Triennale di Milano, alla XII edizione di Dominio Pubblico - Youth Fest al Teatro India di Roma, in eventi della programmazione dell’Estate Romana e alla Festa per la Cultura di Controchiave.
THE PRIZES
A jury composed of film critics, young actors, teachers, and film experts will award the prize for the best short film, consisting of €1,000 plus a screening on Rai Cinema Channel, which this year becomes a partner of the competition. Jury Prize: €500; Best Director – €500; Best Foreign Film – €500; Best Actress – €250; Best Actor – €250; Best Screenplay – €250; Best Cinematography – €250; Best Editing – €250; Best Soundtrack – €250; Best Post-Production – €250; Shotiko Award for Newcomers – €250. Prizes are for italian shortfilm, with a special prize for the best Foreign Film.
24 Frame is sponsored by the Ministry of Sport and Youth, Corriere della Sera, and the Nastri d’Argento. It has partnered with Rimini's La Settima Arte and Dominio Pubblico. The winning short films were screened at the Veneto Region Pavilion at the Venice Film Festival, the Giffoni Film Festival, the Corriere della Sera's Il Tempo delle Donne at the Triennale di Milano, the 12th edition of Dominio Pubblico - Youth Fest at the Teatro India in Rome, at events during the Estate Romana program, and at the Controchiave Festival for Culture.
CRITERI DI PARTECIPAZIONE
Possono concorrere tutti i registi nati dopo il 1 gennaio 2000, che presentino un lavoro di gruppo o individuale. La DEADLINE per la presentazione dei cortometraggi è il 15 febbraio 2026 e potranno essere editi o inediti. I cortometraggi NON DEVONO SUPERARE I 10 MINUTI DI DURATA (titoli di coda esclusi) e liberamente ISPIRARSI AL TEMA "LA MIA BATTAGLIA – IL CONFLITTO FUORI E DENTRO DI SE’ PER LA GENERAZIONE Z”. L’iscrizione al concorso comporta l’impegno a non ritirare il cortometraggio e a consentire proiezioni pubbliche, fermo restando la possibilità per l’autore di inviare il lavoro anche ad altri concorsi. L’iscrizione è GRATUITA.
I cortometraggi VANNO CARICATI SULLA PIATTAFORMA FilmFreeway. I corti non dovranno contenere materiale soggetto a copyright non autorizzato (immagini, canzoni, testi...). I film in lingua straniera dovranno essere sottotitolati in italiano o in inglese e TUTTI I CORTI DOVRANNO ESSERE ACCOMPAGNATI da schede biografiche degli autori (regista/i, per i quali si pretende il rispetto dei criteri d’età attraverso la presentazione di un documento di identità), del cast e della data di produzione. Indirizzo mail e almeno un numero telefonico degli autori sono obbligatori.
PARTICIPATION CRITERIA
All directors born after January 1, 2000, submitting group or individual work, are eligible to participate. The DEADLINE for submitting short films is February 15, 2026, and they may be published or unpublished. Short films MUST NOT EXCEED 10 MINUTES IN RUNNING TIME (excluding closing credits) and MUST BE INSPIRED BY THE THEME "MY BATTLE – THE CONFLICT WITHIN AND OUTSIDE FOR GENERATION Z."
By entering the competition, you agree not to withdraw your short film and to allow public screenings. The author may submit their work to other competitions. Registration for ther festival is FREE. Short films MUST BE UPLOADED TO THE FilmFreeway PLATFORM. Short films must not contain any unauthorized copyrighted material (images, songs, lyrics, etc.).
Foreign-language films must be subtitled in Italian or English, and ALL SHORT FILM MUST BE ACCOMPANIED by biographies of the filmmakers (director(s), who must meet the age requirements by submitting an ID), the cast, and the production date. An email address and at least one phone number are required for each filmmaker.
