Vierte Welle Film Festival (VWFF) 2026 – Call for Submissions

VWFF Based in Berlin since 2019, is dedicated to giving visibility to Queer and FLINTA+ artists, raising awareness about gender inequality, the fight against discrimination, and the prevention of prejudice through active citizen participation.

The 2026 edition of VWFF will take place on March 14th and 15th, 2026 at Lichtblick Kino, Berlin.

Through short fiction, documentary, and experimental audiovisual projects from around the world, the festival continues to create a safe space for screening, viewing, and discussing works that address philosophical, political, economic, social, ecological, and cultural themes. Whether academic or not, these stories find their place in our festival categories.

For 2026, our categories are:

Queer: Queer and FLINTA+ stories that celebrate differences and foster the fight against discrimination.

Activisms: Narratives about feminist-led activism from different parts of the world that envision and demand social change.

Radical Care: Stories of women who open up new possibilities against injustice through collective resistance and radical tenderness.

Berlin Migrant: Films created by migrant directors living in Berlin that bring a feminist and intersectional perspective.

For inclusivity purposes, all films are screened in their original language with English subtitles.

VWFF is organized and made possible thanks to Karne Kunst in collaboration with Sorora e.V.

PLEASE NOTE:

Alongside the screenings, VWFF hosts side events during the year to strengthen community connections and amplify diverse voices. Past highlights include:

- Cuir Pride: Showcase of Queer Latin American Short Films & Movies
- Speculative Ecologies: Fem-Sci-Fi Short Films in Turbulent Times
- Ni una Menos: Films Against Woman Violence.

Vierte Welle Film Festival is non-competitive, so filmmakers will not receive a physical or monetary award for being selected in any of the described categories. Instead, we offer a space for discussion and screening of their work, providing visibility to the creators on our social media platforms.
