Upward Artistry Talent Agency is bringing our Houston Black Entertainers Expo back for another year! And this year, we are doing it for three days...yep three! JUNE 9th-11th!

MONOLOGUES X MARTINIS - JUNE 9th

All monologue submissions will be viewed by a panel toward selecting 12 finalists (6 men and 6 women) to perform the day of the show at Henke & Pillot, one of Houston's favorite downtown night spots, complete with a DJ and lively host!

Select thespians will be notified of their participation in the event giving them time to prepare and make tweaks as necessary in time for the day of show.

All monologues must be geared toward urban stories and issues directly related to p(i.e.. Hispanic/Latin American, African-American, African Descent, Asian/
Pacific Islander, Native American, Middle Eastern, and Mixed Race).

Monologues should be recorded horizontally with a plain background, have good sound and lighting, be no more than one minute to two minutes in length, and should include a slate.

REBIRTH OF THE COOL: FILM SCREENING JUBILEE - JUNE 10th

As a component of our Urban Arts Series, we have partnered with the Juia C. Hester House and Harris County Precinct 1 of Commissioner Rodney Ellis' office to celebrate filmmakers of color in Houston and beyond for our Rebirth Of The Cool: Film Screening Jubilee on June 10th. The event will be a public outdoor event in HD film projection at the Hester House Quad in Houston’s beloved 5th Ward complete with entertainment vendors, film commentary, and good music. We are now taking submissions.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE 21+ YEARS OF AGE AND RESIDE IN TEXAS, OR BE WILLING TO TRAVEL AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE.

For those who are not selected as a finalist, your fee will go toward a discounted rate toward future services with Upward Artistry.

REBIRTH OF THE COOL: FILM SCREENING JUBILEE

All film submissions will be viewed by a panel toward the selection of filmmakers whose works will be presented the day of our outdoor public event in HD film projection with entertainment and food vendors, VIP guests, and more. Select filmmakers will be notified of their participation in the event toward additional marketing.

All films must be geared toward urban stories and issues directly related to people of color (i.e.. Hispanic/Latin American, African-American, African Descent, Asian/ Pacific Islander, Native American, Middle Eastern, and Mixed Race), and be no more than 15 minutes in length and can be in the form of a link, wav, mp4, or other file format sent via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or Dropbox.

PARTICIPANTS MUST BE 18+ YEARS OF AGE AND MUST RESIDE IN THE U.S.

For those filmmakers whose works are not selected for the screening, your fee will be forwarded as a donation to HeartBEAT Performing Arts Charities, a Houston-based 501c3 non-profit.
