Adventure, romance, drama, and high stakes, all contribute to a good’ol western.
At its first edition, the Tucumcari Film Festival (Formerly the Tucumcari Rawhide Days Film Festival) celebrated all of these moments by showing the television show Rawhide and other creations that reflected the southwest and western. From the lawless frontier towns to the beatniks who roamed Route 66.
In our second season run, we plan to celebrate all those moments again! In 2023 we will feature a variety of films that celebrate the west and southwest, as well as the culture that shaped Tucumcari. The film festival is scheduled for April 28th - 29th., 2023(Subject to change) .
Award winners of the film festival will have the chance to be screened at Tucumcari Rawhide Days in June. (16-18th), 2023.
Among the selected films will be professional and amateur works from international, national, and local New Mexico filmmakers and creators. All categories have awards attached to them.
While during Tucumcari Rawhide Days proper, (June 16th - 18th) we will screen the award winners of the film festival, and honorary and free screenings of Rawhide. This will be in collaboration with the 7th run of the famous Tucumcari Rawhide Days which have delighted attendees with live gunslinger performances, longhorn parades, and musical jamborees.
