Sophie Caswell is a Korean American mixed-media animator and artist specializing in stop-motion, 2D animation, and puppet and set fabrication. As a recent graduate from the University of North Carolina Asheville in May of 2025 with a Bachelor’s degree in New Media Animation, she has been featured in various film festivals including Cinequeer Film Festival in Atlanta, Palm Springs International Animation Festival, and Art All Night Trenton Film Festival 2025. Also going by the name “Elderly Footstep” online, she directs her passions towards creating both independent multimedia short films and collaborative works. With a core desire to express untold narratives through visual storytelling, Sophie loves to experiment with different media to create artwork demonstrating a vulnerable dreamlike (or nightmarish) atmosphere with the ability to produce unique emotions and connect with others.
