Hello!

We are a screening festival that takes place every month at El Cid in Silverlake. Submission is always free and attendance is always free. We just ask that the filmmakers are able to attend the screening itself. Afterward, everyone hangs out and has a GOOD time!

Please note that it's an ongoing submission for us. If you don't get a short in one month, your submission is still in the running for future months!

1) Let Silver lake Shorts know whether or not you'll be able to attend the screening. In place of submission fees or cover charge, we have a 2 drink minimum to be able to secure a fantastic venue.

2) Any short longer than 10 minutes will be harder to program, but feel free to submit anyway!

3) Ideally films completed in the last 2 years, but we are open to whatever! Just submit GOOD films :)

4) If selected, all commercial/private property including all trademark/copyrighted materials shown or recorded on the project is the responsibility of the filmmaker.

5) Only online screeners will be considered suitable submission material

6) If selected, you must provide stills which will be used for promotional purposes on all Silver Lake Shorts social media.

7) Rules are subject to change at any time with or without prior notice. The main focus of this event is to bring people together to celebrate filmmaking. We try to keep it casual and fun, so at the end of the day, this is more important to us than following any of the above rules.

Ben and Jared have really built a wonderful community of the East Side's most creative, supportive, and hilarious filmmakers. From sketches, to short films, to music videos, to animation (LOTS of great animation), not to mention the laid back, friendly vibe of the El Cid patio before and after the screening: this is an event I recommend to all of my friends looking to showcase their work.

Everything you want in a fest. Your short film, in a stacked lineup, projected in front of a packed house. Plus the opportunity to meet a bunch of fellow filmmakers afterwards. Hilarious screening + friendly community vibes. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.

The best shorts festival I've ever had the honor of participating in. Our little three minute short, TOOLS, was accepted and screened at El Cid in Los Angeles along with a bunch of awesome animation and live action short films. Communication was easy and prompt. The hosts were amazing and the energy in the room was great. Can't recommend Silver Lake Shorts enough.
