Now in it's third year, the International Shorts Film Festival (ISFF) is a non-profit film festival promoting short films and the filmmakers who make them, dedicated to the celebration of short films. The festival is open to all filmmakers, across the world.

Films are selected and judged on two main criteria; the quality of the work as well as the filmmakers' ambition. We are fully inclusive, do not censor work and have no restrictions on your submissions. We encourage all filmmakers to submit their films, regardless of country of origin, the film's content or a filmmaker's worldview. All genres are extremely welcome!

We will screen all winning and finalist films from our 'Official Selection' in front of a live audience, and all film are promoted on social media via the festival's twitter @shorts_ff. All films chosen to be in 'official selection will receive laurels and are automatically nominated for additional individual award categories such as Best Directing, Best Writing, Best Cinematography and Best Performance.

Amazing stories deserve theatre exhibition and independent short films deserves a larger audience, which is why the International Shorts Film Festival was born. We look forward to your participation as filmmakers in 2020.

  • I got the message in june when I was "selected". It turned out that they were still judging. Winning films and finalist would be screened. So being selected means nothing here. It only says that you participate with the selection round like every other filmmaker who submitted it and payed a fee for it. So the selection part is a bit misleading, otherwise I can now write review.
But even if you weren't winning finalist, they said they would let you know something if you won or not. But they didn't even bother to do that. So I've e-mailed them again a month ago about this and still no reply.
Seems a bit of a scam to let filmmakers know they got selected so they share the laurel and tag the filmfestival for they own promotion, while in fact your actually not even really selected.
November 30th I should have received the news, but didn't hear anything.

It's says more about you that you choose to respond on a review to make yourself look good to get those submission fees. Because you don't bother to update the status on the notification date and ignore my e-mails about it. And it was a normal friendly e-mail. Searching you as organizers it seems you guys don't turn up in social media, so it seems the names vanessa and james are made up.

    Response from festival:

Hi Bastiaan. We were disappointed to read your comments. Every film festival is different and had different processes that might not suit you. The International Shorts Film Festival (ISFF) is proud to have supported hundreds of very happy filmmakers in its short history. Perhaps, consider, if your film didn’t make it through the judging process it says less that the festival is ‘scam’ as you put it, and more about the quality of the film that you submitted to us. Thanks for your feedback. We wish you all the best for the future.

  • We appreciate the chance to participate in this festival, and look forward to entering again in 2020

  • An incredible festival full of outstanding work from around the globe. I feel very honored to have been part of its 2019 edition, and really the fact that our short film "Instant Crush" ended up winning the Best Comedy Short Film category meant the world to all the team behind it. A really wonderful experience for sure.
