Celebrating Filipinx/a/o media-based art, film, and culture, SALA aims to highlight the diversity and richness of this community through various forms of media. As part of Kultivation Festival 2025 (a week-long festival celebrating all forms of art rooted in the Filipinx/a/o diaspora in Winnipeg, MB), SALA focuses on film programming, showcasing a wide range of cinematic works that reflect the multitude of stories and experiences within the Filipinx/a/o community.
SALA is a celebration of all forms of art and storytelling and aims to highlight the diverse ways our community’s artists express their creativity, distinctive voices, and perspectives. SALA brings people together, believing in the power of art to kultivate a sense of community and belonging.
The concept of “SALA,” meaning “living room” in Tagalog, is central to the festival. The living room is a place of warmth, comfort, and connection—a space where friends and families gather, and memories are made. We aim to recreate the same homelike atmosphere, evoking a sense of nostalgia and comfort.
