The Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Film Festival celebrates the queer experience with not-to-be-missed world-class films, panels, and events.

Since our founding in 1982, Outfest has screened thousands of US and international films for audiences of well over half a million people. Great opportunities await filmmakers at Outfest Los Angeles, the largest film festival of any kind in LA.

Outfest is the leading queer media arts organization, and its location in the heart of the entertainment industry means more industry executives attend Outfest Los Angeles than any other LGBTQIA+ film festival.

Our industry program offers comprehensive services for emerging filmmakers to forge connections in Hollywood. These include networking mixers, panels hosted by industry insiders, and one of the most extensive awards program of any LGBTQIA+ film festival.

Films should be of interest to the LGBTQIA+ community. We are seeking narrative, documentary, experimental, music video, animated films and episodic content.

Upon acceptance, Outfest will provide exhibition options. We will likely require a DCP for in-person screenings. IF THE FILMMAKER CANNOT PROVIDE REQUIRED FORMATS, THE FILM WILL NOT BE SCREENED. Outfest is committed to providing proactive assistance to accommodate individuals with disabilities. We request that all selected films have an accompanying caption file (or hard coded open captions). Availability of audio description is welcome.

Rough cuts and works-in-progress are eligible for submission if the exhibition copy of the completed film will be ready for QC by June 15, 2023. Please include a “Rough Cut” card in the beginning of your screener, and specify what is missing (i.e. temp sound, needs color correction, etc).

By submitting your work to Outfest Los Angeles, you grant to Outfest a non-exclusive license to use an excerpt of your submission of up to two minutes in length, for promotional purposes only, if selected.

  • It was such a joy to screen my TV pilot "For Years to Come" for a packed crowd at Outfest this past summer, and such an honor to be among so many luminaries of queer cinema, and to meet artists I've admired for years. There was so much conscious community building and the whole team really made my peers and I feel celebrated and valued. I highly recommend you submit your work and attend the festival! And support queer cinema in theaters!!

I was so happy I was able to attend OutFest in person. It was an honor to have my film No One Knows I'm A Dog On The Internet included in the Platinum Showcase.

  • Having our film Your Love premiere at Outfest LGBTQIA+ Film Festival was an absolute honor and joy! As a Queer, Non-binary South Asian filmmaker, it was beautiful to be in such an affirming, inclusive, and nurturing space. The entire staff is so kind and I appreciated the educational panels and especially the Trans, Non-binary, and Intersex summit. Thank you for creating this transformative space for storytellers like us!
