James Patrick Nelson most recently starred in two Off-Broadway world-premieres, the New York Times Critic's Pick "Memorial" with Pan Asian Repertory and "Reverse Transcription" with PTP/NYC at Atlantic Stage II. And he recently appeared in the first regional transfer of the Broadway production of "Slave Play" at the Mark Taper Forum. He starred in the world premiere of "Immortal Longings," the final play by Tony-winner Terrence McNally, as well as the sold-out Boston transfer of Bedlam’s "Pygmalion". He starred in the critically acclaimed production of Bedlam’s "Sense and Sensibility" at the American Repertory Theatre and the Folger Theatre, where he and his cast won the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Ensemble. He began his Off-Broadway career at Classic Stage Company, in "The Three Sisters" with Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" with Bebe Neuwirth and Christina Ricci, and "Ivanov" with Ethan Hawke and Joely Richardson. James created the short film “Waking Up,” which premiered at the Oscar-qualifying Santa Barbara Int’l Film Festival. His quarantine short-film “Without Touch” won an Audience Favorite award on Dekkoo. He stars in the multi-award-winning ensemble comedy feature “Love in Kilnerry”.
