Great festival! Martha's was the first festival that accepted us and while unfortunately we could not be there in person, we were incredibly honoured and motivated by this acceptance. We also received great praise from fellow filmmakers attending who saw our film. Can't wait to attend with our next film.

My short film, THE REBEL GIRLS, was accepted into this amazing festival and WON THE BEST SHORT FILM PRIZE!!! I'm still beyond elated!!! The experience of being there was everything I'd heard it would be.
This was the first time I've attended MVAAFF. From the moment I arrived, I knew this festival was different. Everyone greeted me with such warmth and care and made me feel as if it was a privilege to have me there. When there were hiccups with anything, the volunteers truly wanted to help solve the issue and did so with the best attitudes. Simply put, love, gratitude, kindness, respect, and filmmaker camaraderie were in the air at all times. The blocks were programmed brilliantly. I saw so many beautiful films and met so many talented and cool filmmakers with whom I will stay in touch. The non-screening activities were all SO WORTH ATTENDING! When there were two events happening simultaneously, I hated missing what I couldn't attend. The bottom line, I want to come back every year.

This welcoming atmosphere is a testament to the founders' vision and their unwavering commitment to empowering storytellers. A special acknowledgment goes to the Rance family—may they continue to inspire and lead with the grace and fortitude they’ve shown in fostering a space where our narratives can thrive.
