Over the past two years, we have witnessed growth in our ability to explore dance through multiple mediums. How and where dance has been captured and shared with others has been driven by technology. There is a synergy between dance and film, not just recording dance, but cinematic possibilities, capturing interdisciplinary work that can only exist on the screen. mignolo international screendance festival encourages dancers to think creatively and expand their artistic practice.
Mission: To bring together artists from diverse backgrounds and disciplines and provide a unique artistic experience while supporting dancers and companies with more performance/screening opportunities and networking opportunities with other companies. From literature to music, from visual art to theater to everything in between, forging interdisciplinary connections is the founding principle that informs every facet of our organization.
Who: Open to screendance makers worldwide. Dance filmmakers are encouraged to collaborate with artists working in different disciplines to develop their film.
What: Films with a focus on movement. Interdisciplinary works are especially encouraged.
When: Submissions are due by Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11:59PM EST. The festival will take place September 16 & 17, 2022.
