MEFCC 2026 Short Film Competition!!

Step into the spotlight at the 2nd MEFCC Short Film Competition, a community competition that showcases the creativity, talent and unique stories from aspiring / emerging filmmakers from across UAE.

Open exclusively to UAE nationals and residents, this competition continues to shine a light on emerging local talent.

Whether you’re a first-time director, an aspiring filmmaker, or simply a lover of cinema, this competition invites you to participate by submitting your short films under the theme: Dreams.

The top 10 entries shortlisted by our panel of judges will be screened on the Main Stage at MEFCC on Friday 11 September 2026 at the ADNEC Centre, Abu Dhabi. Participants will have the opportunity to gain exposure to industry professionals and engage with a diverse audience at MEFCC.

Awards & Prizes

Best Short Film:
- First Place – AED 10,000
- Second Place – AED 6,000
- Third Place – AED 4,000

Rules & Terms

Film Duration: The running time should be between 6 - 8 minutes including credits

Theme: Films should align with the given theme – Dreams

Language: All submissions for the short film competition must be presented in English or Arabic language. Films must include subtitles if necessary.

Exclude AI Usage in all submissions, including in the short film, promotional materials and submission.

Exclude Commercial Content: The short film should not feature or promote any specific brands, products or companies.

Exclude Explicit Content: (Language, obscenity, nudity, etc.)
