GENERAL RULES
Registration Process
- To simplify the submission process and ensure efficient management of applications, we have decided to use the FilmFreeway platform exclusively for film registration.
Audience Voting Method
- Selected films (by the university jury, composed of about ten students) will be published on the Marte Studios Film Club platform, in the "Festival" section. Once a film is selected, the producer is informed and asked for consent to publish on the platform. This section will be available "Worldwide" for one month and will be accessible exclusively to viewers, free of charge. Viewers who register on our website will receive a link to a Google form allowing them to watch and vote for the selected films in all categories. The film receiving the most votes will win the "Best Film Chosen by the Audience" award and will be mentioned during the awards day.
Announcement of Results and Invitation of Winners
- The authors of the winning films for each category will be announced during the awards day and screened for the public presentation. During the awards ceremony, the author will be invited to record a podcast episode dedicated to their work.
Commercial Distribution Offer
- The winning films will receive a dedicated distribution offer from Marte Studios, which they are free to accept or decline.
Jury Appointment
- The jury, appointed by the Marte Studios Board of Directors and composed of three emerging authors, will choose the winners in each category four weeks before the awards day, to send invitations and book transfers for the authors.
Declaration of Responsibility for Film Rights
- Anyone submitting a film for participation in our festival assumes all responsibilities related to the ownership of the rights to the submitted film. Specifically, the submitter declares and guarantees to possess all necessary rights, including, but not limited to:
- Copyright and intellectual property rights
- Distribution rights
- Rights to use music and images
- Image rights of all persons appearing in the film
Indemnity Clause
- By submitting their film, each participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless our company, festival organizers, and all our collaborators and partners from any claims, demands, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from:
- Violations of third-party rights
- Legal disputes regarding intellectual property ownership
- Unauthorized use of music, images, or other copyrighted materials
- Any other legal issues arising from the submission of the film
Film Submission
- Submitting a film to the festival implies having read and accepted the rules stated herein, indemnifying MARTESTUDIOS SRL from any liability.
Jurisdiction
- For any legal disputes related to the submission of films or participation in the festival, the exclusive jurisdiction will be that of Rome. By participating in the festival, you agree that any legal dispute will be resolved in the court of Rome.
TECHNICAL RULES
1. All films must have English subtitles or Italian.
2. Marte Film Festival only accept digital submissions of HD quality (720p or better).
3. The total length of the Short movies is maximum 52 minutes, of the Features movies min. more than 52 minutes.
4. In the categories Fiction, Animation and Documentary you can submitting films from all over the world.
5. Each filmmaker can submit several projects, but each production must be accompanied by a separate entry and fee.
6. All fees are non-refundable.
7. The filmmaker shall certify to have full rights. They are responsible for acquiring copyrights, licenses and releases for media used in their films. The filmmaker will indemnify the organizers of the Festival against all claims, demands, costs, damages, expenses (including legal fees), proceedings and losses resulting from the screening of the film at the Festival or from claims by any third parties.
8. Films submitted must not strengthen the racial, ethnic, religious, gender or politic conflicts, incitement to offenses or other violations of law or must not be pornographic. Applicants whose films does not meet these requirements can be excluded from the competition by the Organizers.
9. By submitting their film, filmmaker gives Marte Film Festival the right to post their posters, trailers, website and social media links on our website. If the filmmaker wants to keep his movie private, we will only mention the movie title, director and a movie poster (if one is available).
10. The Festival treats all submissions with utmost care and confidentiality. The filmmaker agrees that if his film is selected for public or online screening, the Festival can download it for screening. The filmmaker does not ask any financial compensation for the screening.
11. Official Selection films can be viewed in cinemas of the festival (Rouge et Noir - Palermo; Industrie Fluviali - Roma). Online only if allowed by the filmmakers.
12. All selected films and winners will receive the laurels and certificates via email. Sculptures prizes will be sent by mail.
13. The jury's decision is final.
14. The Festival reserves the right to make any necessary changes in regulations or scheduling.
