- Eligibility Criteria -
Duration: Films must have a maximum duration of 30 minutes.
Production Countries: Films may be produced in any country, provided they are suitable for an Italian school-age audience.
Premiere Status: Priority will be given to films that have not yet had an Italian premiere.
Production Year: Only films completed after January 1, 2025, will be considered.
- Festival Selection -
The festival will select a maximum of 8 films in total:
- up to 5 films in Competition
- up to 3 films Out of Competition (SPAZIO ITALIA)
- Submission Process -
Opening Date: Submissions open on April 20, 2026.
Deadline: The final submission deadline is November 9, 2026.
Submission Platform: Entries must be submitted exclusively through FilmFreeway.
Submission Fee: A submission fee is required and must be paid via PayPal only (paypal.me/filmeeting).
- Technical Requirements -
Resolution: The minimum recommended resolution is Full HD (1920x1080).
Video Codec: Accepted codecs are Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Apple ProRes 444, H.264, or H.265, with a minimum bitrate of 20 Mbps.
Video Container: Screening files must be provided in .mov or .mp4 format.
Audio: Preferred audio format is uncompressed .wav, 24-bit / 48 kHz, in Stereo, 3.0, or 5.1.
Frame Rate: The recommended frame rate is 24 fps.
- Language and Subtitles -
Films must not contain embedded subtitles.
A separate subtitle file (.srt) must be provided in either English or Italian. The subtitle file must match the frame rate of the screening file.
- Additional Materials -
Participants must provide:
- at least 3 high-resolution stills from the film
- any available promotional materials, including posters
- the director’s biography and photo
- Rights and Permissions -
Ownership: The submitting filmmaker or distributor must hold all necessary rights to the film and all related materials.
Permissions: By submitting a film, participants authorize the festival to use excerpts, images, and promotional materials for communication and promotional purposes, and to organize one public screening of the selected work.
Winning Film: The winning short film may be granted one additional screening during the festival.
- Legal Responsibilities -
Compliance: The submitting party is fully responsible for ensuring that the film does not infringe the rights of any third party, including copyright, image rights, and privacy rights.
Liability: The filmmaker or distributor agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the festival and its organizers from any legal claims arising from the submitted work.
- Selection Notification -
Selected films will be notified by email and will be required to provide a high-quality digital screening copy.
- Terms and Conditions -
Changes: The festival reserves the right to amend these rules and regulations at any time without prior notice.
Agreement: By submitting a film, applicants acknowledge and accept all the terms and conditions set out above.
