I'll start from the very beginning...
I am a retired AT&T installer, completed six years in the army and grew up in Oakland, Ca.. I have always enjoyed writing ever since the age of seven which marked my first real writing experience. My new teacher gave us our first assignment fresh off summer vacation, to write about what we'd done over the summer vacation. At that time I was infatuated with kids mystery novels so had read a few. When I formatted my assignment I used the format based on some of the books I remembered reading. I gave my two summer playmates and myself fictitious names and speaking parts just like in the books. But using our summer experiences as the subject matter. When my teacher read my work she didn't believe I had completed the work myself, and so discarded it. That first experience left me a bit confused. But, here I am today writing again, so I guess it was just meant to be. I have always enjoyed watching a good movie, singing, dancing, traveling and the outdoors.
I received an honorable army discharge in 1982. After my discharge I temporarily moved in with my mother in a low income east Oakland neighborhood where I witnessed a high degree of crime and drug violence due to the crack cocaine epidemic at that time.
I became employed with Pacific Bell soon after, which was where I was working while attending acting school at The Jean Shelton School of Acting in San Francisco, Ca.. One day a classmate and myself were discussing our opinions of the affects of the crack cocaine drug trade on the brown community. After she'd heard my views she suggested I write a screenplay reflecting my feelings. She gave me a couple of books on screenplay writing and after reading and doing more research I decided to write a screenplay reflecting some of my experiences during my time living with my mother in east Oakland as the subject matter.
I've completed three action feature screenplays now, based on the concept of gangbangers being transformed into covert crime fighting operatives assigned to rid underprivileged communities of criminal elements who prey on the human resources of those communities enriching themselves at the expense of the communities inhabitants.
In March 2023 the first screenplay in the series titled N-W-G (New World Gangsters) made the Coverfly Red List top 20. Two are rated in the top 25% overall on Coverfly and the third in the top 30%.
The professional reader at WeScreenplay who helped with final polish feels these features could capture audiences such as The Fast and The Furious, and Creed III audiences. According to him with the Fast and Furious franchise nearing an end a new franchise such as N-W-G (New World Gangsters) could fill that vacuum. I am seeking a manager or producer who might have the same insight as the reader.
