The INDEPENDENT DAYS | International Film Festival (IDIF) is one of Europe's leading festivals for independent cinema and a proud member of the European Festivals Association. Since 2017, the festival has been awarded the prestigious EFFE Label (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe), recognizing its outstanding artistic quality and international relevance.

As an IMDb Award-Listing Qualifying Festival, IDIF provides filmmakers with an internationally recognized platform to showcase their work, connect with industry professionals, and reach passionate audiences.

Every year, IDIF presents a diverse selection of short films, feature films, documentaries, animations, experimental works, and genre films from around the globe. We celebrate bold storytelling, fresh perspectives, and creative voices beyond the mainstream.

Films should be produced within the years 2024 to 2027.
Short films, medium-length films, and feature films are eligible for submission.
The festival welcomes submissions from independent filmmakers, film students, film schools, emerging talents, and professional production companies worldwide.
All genres and topics are accepted, except commercials, corporate image films, and works containing content that violates applicable German law.

The INDEPENDENT DAYS focus on independent low-budget and no-budget productions.

Low-Budget Productions:

Production costs should not exceed €2,500 per minute of runtime.
Feature films (60 minutes or longer) should not exceed approximately €250,000 in total production costs.
Short and medium-length films should not exceed approximately €50,000 in total production costs.

No-Budget Productions:

Production costs should not exceed €100 per minute of runtime.
Feature films (60 minutes or longer) should not exceed approximately €10,000 in total production costs.
Short and medium-length films should not exceed approximately €2,500 in total production costs.

In addition to actual production costs, factors such as production infrastructure, institutional support, production company resources, and film school involvement may be considered when determining eligibility.

Physical screening copies (e.g. USB drives or hard disks), if requested by the festival, will be returned to the sender's official address or forwarded to another festival. Return shipping will be handled through a postal service of the festival's choice. The festival cannot guarantee delivery times.

Films submitted to the festival must be available for screening in the event of selection.

Films that have been officially submitted and selected by the festival's program committee cannot be withdrawn from the festival program.

By submitting a film, the applicant confirms that all necessary rights for festival screening have been obtained and that the information provided is accurate.

The festival reserves the right to use excerpts, trailers, stills, and promotional materials for press, marketing, archival, and festival-related purposes.
