Hiroyuki Oda was born on November 4th, 1972 in Tokyo, Japan. After studying history at a university in Tokyo, he packed his bags and moved to London and lived there for four years. He then decided to move to LA and spent two years there.
After returning to Tokyo, he studied at The Film School of Tokyo, where Kiyoshi Kurosawa taught and also studied photography under Masato Seto. Oda is also a high school teacher and teaches a film studies class at a high school in Japan under the guidance of director, Nobuhiro Suwa.
Oda has worked as a film director on a variety of productions and has held solo exhibitions as a photographer. Recently, he has started to create Post-Performance artworks.
Oda is doing his PhD studies at GRADUATE SCHOOL OF FILM AND NEW MEDIA, TOKYO UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS.
