The Hip Hop Film Festival is the FIRST festival to feature filmmakers raised in the global culture of Hip Hop. That means we focus on stories from all over the world, across ALL GENRES, written, produced and directed by lovers of the universal culture.

What makes us unique is that we share the profits of the festival with the filmmakers selected to participate while providing a dynamic environment for filmmakers to network, engage with titans of the industry and negotiate deals that will further their careers.

Over the past 3 years the festival has been sponsored by NETFLIX, CBS, New York Life, Verizon, Metro PCS and a host of other amazing corporations. We hosted over 200 filmmakers from every continent, and saw over 3,000 film enthusiasts from all over the world descend on our dedicated theater in NYC for what we call "FOUR DAYS OF FRESH".

The Hip Hop Film Festival also features the "Master Cypher®" where Hollywood Insiders gave their expertise on how to negotiate distribution deals, the business side of getting a screenplay greenlit, a successful web series, how to fund a major movie on a budget and more...

The festival awards the distinction of BEST of the FEST in over 21 categories including, best Feature, Best Documentary, Best Web Series and more. The festival and our filmmakers received world wide press and many went on to be invited to other festivals. Some are now on world tours and some scored distribution deals

The 2019 season of the Hip Hop Film Festival takes place August 1st through August 4th in NYC.

Powered by 247Films.tv, the festival will launch the careers of the next batch of independent writers, directors and actors who are children of the global culture of Hip Hop.

Selected participants agree to promote their screening time to help with the sale of seats at their screening.

WYMS Ent LLC / Revolution Media / Hip Hop Film Festival NYC is hereby granted the right to utilize the film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes (web, print, broadcast media) for the life of the festival (in whole or in part). This includes all pre & post festival events regardless of festival season. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. By submitting to the Hip Hop Film Festival, you shall indemnify and hold harmless WYMS Ent LLC / Revolution Media / Hip Hop Film Festival NYC from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered. By submitting your film to WYMS Ent LLC / Revolution Media / Hip Hop Film Festival NYC you commit to a public screening of your film with WYMS Ent LLC / Revolution Media / Hip Hop Film Festival NYC. "Commit to public screening" means films may not be withdrawn after acceptance of the invitation to screen. We do NOT return presentation materials (USBs or thumb/hard drives).

After the public screening, the finalists and selected films will be added to the HHFF TV Network (24/7films.tv) for the remainder of the season. Filmmakers have the option to opt out in writing should the placement interfere with a proven distribution deal. Revolution Media will work closely with the filmmaker and team for promotional strategy to increase promotion and awareness of the film to achieve the filmmakers goal of a distribution deal with top market competitors. Should the film be placed in the festival subscription platform (HHFF TV dba 24/7 Films) net profits will be split with the filmmakers according to the month they were featured on the platform. Titles will be removed from the festival platform at the end of the current season as determined by the festival owner. Terms may be shortened or extended by the festival committee at its discretion.

  • The HHFF was a great experience. They had various press in the Filmmaker’s Lounge, so we could be interviewed and talk about our projects.

    They show special attention to the filmmakers by having us come up and be interviewed right after our film is shown. This is the first time I experienced this at a festival, as usually all the filmmakers are called up onto the stage together and get to say a quick minute or 2. The fact that they interview you alone right after your film makes you feel special, and then they open it up to audience questions.

    Only thing I wasn’t happy with is that I missed some films that I really wanted to see, because I was in the other theatre watching another film. I wish that they had had printed schedules for each film saying which theatre they were in so I could have chosen better.

    The staff was SO VERY friendly! You really felt welcomed and they were always helpful when I asked a question, and NEVER gave off an attitude that I was bothering them. Great customer service!

    CR Capers was a joy. So real, down-to-earth and you really felt that she wants us all to win.

    I watched the pitch session and learned a lot.

    I regret that I only was able to attend for 2 of the 4 days. I will definitely attend again, and submit again for next year, as I’m currently in pre-production for my next short film.

  • Made it to the semi's of the screenwriting competition, communication was fantastic! everytime i sent an email, i would get a response within a few hours or a day. The judges were some prominent names in the film industry, one of them gave us a good contact after hearing our pitch. Through social media the festival were constantly promoting the festival and although i am not from the states, i have seen posters of the festival on bus stops. The value for submitting to festival although we did not win anything is very reasonable and i believe they do profit share with filmmakers whose films are screened which is a fantastic thing!. Am definitely going to submit again in the future, thank you HHFF for everything!.

    Best experience by far for any new filmmaker! great humble staff ! organized- so many opportunities come out of this festival Our Film Series "Still Got The Juice " was recieved very well in the festival we made countless new connections with other filmmakers as well as actors - and we can't forget the moving response we received when we pitched and performed Still Got The Juice in front of hundreds of people and Hollywood judges.. we appreciate C R Capers and her staff for running a successful organized and professional festival 3 years in a row as one of her Filmmakers this is more than a Festival you learn and grow with the tools given at Harlem Film House to become the best of the best!
