The Harlem Film House's Hip Hop Film Festival is the only festival that focuses on filmmakers and movie lovers raised in THE CULTURE.

All genres, all stories welcome... we focus on STORIES FROM THE CULTURE... narratives that are reshaping culture across a broad spectrum and influencing how we watch visually impactful narratives.

This year we are offering first look deals and acquisition meetings with major networks and production studios across several categories.

Over the past 4 years the festival has been sponsored by REVOLT, BET NETWORKS, NETFLIX, FINAL DRAFT, 1010WINS, DOSDUDES PICTURES, OUNCE Water, New York Life, Verizon, and a host of other amazing collaborators. We host over 200 filmmakers from every continent, and 3,000 film enthusiasts from all over the world at our dedicated theater in NYC for what we call "FOUR DAYS OF FRESH".

The Hip Hop Film Festival also features the "Master Cypher®" where Hollywood Insiders gave their expertise on how to negotiate distribution deals, the business side of getting a screenplay greenlit, a successful web series, how to fund a major movie on a budget and more...

The festival awards the distinction of BEST of the FEST in over 21 categories including, best Feature, Best Documentary, Best Web Series and more. The festival and our filmmakers received world wide press and many went on to be invited to other festivals. Some are now on world tours and some scored distribution deals

Overall Rating
  • You want to talk about value? This festival is God sent. Most of us are on here hustlin' and looking to elevate to the next level. Out of all of the film festivals I've been a part of (HBO'S NYLFF, Catalina FF, etc), the Hip Hop Film Festival takes the cake as the best of the best. CR Capers - the director - takes an INCREDIBLY personal approach to the filmmakers. She CARES and truly is passionate about helping YOU succeed. The world needs more people like her. CR is changing lives out here. All the blessings to this film festival!

  • I won "Best Screenplay" of the Festival 2021. I can't believe it! I am #SoThankfulButEternallyGrateful for this win. This 60-year-old Dude wrote something that resonated with The Hip Hop Culture. What? Really. They even told me that I was "The Future of the Fresh". That may not mean a lot to anybody else but I remember going to The Sugarhill Gang 1979 release of "Rapper's Delight" as a Young Adult and now in 2021 I write something that resonates and is relevant to the culture? What? For reals? Yo I am so inspired to just keep writing and speaking my truth. I am so empowered to continue to use my voice. I must continue to #Trust_MY_Power. Why? Because I Rock and I don't stop. S/O to the Festival Creators, Festival Judges and Coordinators. This festival was so thorough (aka "Proper") with it's all of its Communication and Hospitality. The value of this Festival is unparalleled and unprecedented. I appreciate the Festival so much because they made me feel like I was "3 1/2 mikes" of Unsigned Hype. Thank you so again for this win.

Thank you CR for your warmth, support and enthusiasm. No other festival gets down like you do. You truly love each and every filmmaker and make sure that they know it. The network and exposure that the fest bolsters is unmatched. The filmmakers in the fest feel like family. Serious storytellers cannot miss out on this fest. Period.

  • As a first time filmmaker, with no connections to anyone involved. I don't know the organizors of this event working the film festival circuit, It was just a shot in the dark, and I got selected! I really didn't enjoy this virtual experience. It took away from the networking and connections for me. Overall nobody saw my film. I really just paid for the laurel. lol
