Understanding Event Types on FilmFreeway.

Whether you’re submitting your work or creating a new event on FilmFreeway, it’s important to understand the different types of events available. Each event type has unique requirements and expectations, so this guide will help both submitters and festival organizers understand which event type is right for them.

Event Types

Film Festivals: A festival at a physical venue featuring screenings in front of a live audience.

Screenwriting Contests: Submit scripts or screenplays; live events occur only if specified.

Online Festivals / Awards Events: A virtual event with online screenings or may be award-only. See listing details for specifics.

Music Contests: Submit audio recordings or music videos; live events occur only if specified.

Photography Contests: Submit photos or image series; live events occur only if specified.

Important Notes for Festival Organizers

Do not list your event under “Film Festivals” unless your event is an actual film festival with film screenings that takes place at a physical venue in front of a live audience.

If you’re listing your event as an "Online Festival / Awards Event," please clarify whether it includes virtual screenings or is award-only. This detail is very important for submitters.

By selecting the correct event type, you help submitters know exactly what to expect and ensure your event reaches the right audience. Please provide as much detail as possible about your event format.

Please review all publishing requirements.

Important Notes for Submitters

Be sure to carefully review all event information or reach out to the organizers with any questions so you can make informed decisions about your submissions.
