Overall Rating
  • This film festival is a first-class event on so many levels! It's truly a filmmakers' festival. The staff and army of volunteers take outstanding care of filmmakers with personalized accommodations, on demand rides from volunteers to anywhere in town, amazing parties hosted in beautiful homes and venues by festival donors, and films shown on three screens in an very comfortable and beautiful venue with digital projection and 16-channel sound, making every screening a professional event. The communication by the film staff was clear, timely, and outstanding. The local Kiwanis Club managed the filmmakers' lounge with tasty appetizers, beer, wine, and margaritas. The local community is extremely warm, supportive and engaged with viewing the variety of high-quality films that span the range of genres, from comedy shorts to feature documentaries to films in "the strange batch."

I attended the Gig Harbor Film Festival last year as a spectator and closet wannabe filmmaker. The filmmakers who attended were extremely supportive, accessible, and willing to share their experiences and introductions to their networks. I was inspired to take my film project off the shelf, complete it, and submit it to this year's festival. This year was no different, with other filmmakers providing loads of useful feedback and ideas for ways to improve my current film and the projects that I'm working on. Not only was our film an official selection, but it was nominated along with three other films for the inaugural Gig Award, which is for filmmakers that have challenged our thinking, broadened our social awareness, inspired hope and action, and reminded us of the persistent good of humankind.

I highly recommend the Gig Harbor Film Festival! We will definitely be back as attendees, and hopefully again as selected filmmakers.

The communication before and during the event was amazing, you knew what was going on at every moment of the festival. The parties were fun and very well attended and offered great networking opportunities. The city is a beautiful backdrop for the weekend and the community support was incredible. Extremely honored to have been selected to participate in this year's festival and hope to attend again! Put this festival on the top of your wish list filmmakers!
