Filmul de Piatra is a festival created by the young for the young. 100% based on Volunteer Power, the festival’s main goal is to offer a platform for young short film directors from Romania and Moldova.

That said, the festival is known for its’ youthfulness and friendliness, unconventional locations, and very long nights of hard partying.

In 2024, the 16th edition of the festival will take place between 4th and 7th of July, in Piatra Neamt, a city in North-East Romania.

Awards & Prizes

The competitive section is open for short films made in the past year by directors from Romania and Moldova. The following awards are given at the festival:
- best short fiction film;
- best short documentary film;
- best short animated film;
Several jury mentions are also offered for different types of achievements in all categories of films.
At least one Audience Award will be granted based on reactions of the audience after each film.

Rules & Terms

Submitted films must be under 30 minutes in length and be a majority production of one of the countries of Romania or Moldova. Made in 2023 and 2024. Films that already traveled to important international festivals are usually screened off-competition, while the competition is reserved for fresh films at the start of their career. Exceptions are possible!

    The "Stone Film" festival is a real festival in the full sense of the word. The program lasts 4-6 days and includes countless activities for both children and adults. Of course, the film projection is the most awaited part. From the hosting, to the program, from the guests to the locations where it takes place, but especially the well-organized parties, this festival is a marvel. For the city where it takes place, it represents "a breath of fresh air". I warmly recommend you to participate. I will try to be present every year! Congratulations everyone!
