The Consumed Film Festival is dedicated to breaking the stigma surrounding eating disorders by shedding light on the illness and the many factors that contribute to it. We invite individuals with lived experience, as well as filmmakers passionate about creating change, to help bring eating disorders out of the shadows and onto center stage.
As the first film festival solely focused on eating disorders, the Consumed Film Festival provides filmmakers with a unique platform to replace taboo with awareness and understanding.
There is no single way to experience an eating disorder. Eating disorders affect people of all genders, ages, body types, religions, and backgrounds. We encourage filmmakers to challenge stereotypes and broaden the narrative surrounding these illnesses.
The most exceptional submitted films will be premiered in a continuous two-hour block organized by category. A recorded version of the festival will premiere on The Caterpillar Project YouTube page the day after the event.
Filmmakers of all levels and ages are encouraged to participate!
This event is free to submit to, ensuring equitable access and removing financial barriers to participation.
Let's bang pots and pans and let our voices be heard!
The intent of the film festival is to showcase the stories of those with eating disorders and shine a light on features of recovery that aren't often talked about. This being said, we will be awarding a first place winner for each category's division to recognize exemplary creativity and storytelling. A certificate will be mailed to the winners.
