Screamstation Fest is a London founded film event dedicated to experimental and hybrid cinema, with a particular focus on the creative relationship between sound and image.
Originally launched in 2012 at The Horse Hospital, the festival presented an international programme of experimental films exploring how sound shapes cinematic perception. Since then, Screamstation Fest has evolved into an ongoing platform for artists working at the edges of moving image practice.
The 2026 edition will take place at Kino Valli on 6–7 November 2026.
Screamstation Fest focuses on short experimental films, artist moving image, hybrid cinema and expanded audiovisual practices that challenge conventional cinematic language. We are particularly interested in works where sound, rhythm, texture and image interact in unexpected ways.
The festival welcomes filmmakers, visual artists and composers working across experimental film, video art, hybrid cinema and contemporary audiovisual practice.
Alongside the open call selections, each edition also includes retrospective and contextual programmes dedicated to important voices within experimental cinema. The 2026 edition will feature a retrospective of films by Guy Sherwin alongside a special presentation from Kerry Baldry’s One Minute Volumes project.
Screamstation Fest values works that take risks, question form, and explore the expressive potential of cinema beyond narrative convention.
