I had a truly marvelous and special time at the Kitakyushu International Film Festival! The festival puts great care into both its selection process and the overall experience, under the direction of acclaimed filmmaker and festival director Kei Chika-ura. It was also impressively organized in partnership with the Kitakyushu city government.

I’m especially grateful that all nine filmmakers from the short film category were able to attend the festival in person through the festival’s support. Beyond the screenings, the festival team even organized a city tour for us, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. :)

Thank you so much, Kitakyushu IFF, for this magical experience and for all your support for us filmmakers!

  • The Kitakyushu International Film Festival was an extraordinary experience. I was one of only nine filmmakers invited to the festival. They flew me to Kitakyushu, put me up in a four star hotel, picked me up at the train station, fed me constantly, treated me as if I were Wes Anderson and paid extraordinary care and respect to my work at a level I have never before experienced. The red carpet was unlike anything I've ever seen outside of Cannes or Venice. We had star studded soirees. And I was given a trophy of exceptional beauty that was crafted by a well-known artist. There was so much care and consideration put into every single detail of the festival. Each of the filmmakers' work was truly outstanding. I was in awe to be in such distinguished company. The awards ceremony was truly beautiful and I thank the festival and the jury for awarding my film, Feel Nothing Inc, the Grand Prize Silver Sunflower Award.
